If we did it would be the first since West Ham in 1980. Trevor Brooking header for the winner. They were second division at the time.

I remember watching that as a 16 yr old the FA Cup was at least as big as the league then really IIRC, I watched us win the League Cup at Wembley a few months earlier that was also considerred major but not anywhere near the league really, I always thought it was strange that the trophy had 3 handles and it was definately lessened by the stupid names shit milk cup, rumbelows cup et all.

I remember Sunderland becoming the first 2nd Division side to win the FA Cup. I also remember 3rd Division Swindon beating Arsenal in the League Cup final. A feat repeated soon after when 3rd Division QPR beat the shit at Wembley in LC Final.

is that a ‘since the war’ thing as they can’t be the first. weren’t we in a Div 2 and won it, 1908. I was too young for the Sunderland game but the clips featured a lot in the 70s, it was such a shock. I remember the West Ham win.

Sorry, 'at Wembley'......

no prob. ‘76 Southampton won from div 2 as well. fair to say the gap from top to 2nd div has widened a bit since then, at least at the top end of the now Prem div.

Norris

Vinagre
Hause
Coady
Bennett
Doherty

N'Diaye
Gibbs-White

Enobakhare
Bonatini
Costa

Subs: Burgoyne, Douglas, Cavaleiro, Mir, Miranda, Rasmussen, Goncalves

Good line-up that.

Only question mark is how well we can control central midfield. Good test for MGW.

Bonatini on the wing and Vinagre and Doherty on the wrong sides? ;)

Lot of faith in MGW there. Overall I think that's a decent side. No Price on the bench is a surprise.

If Price can't even get in the matchday squad for a 3rd round FA Cup tie, I can only assume he is off? Same with Marshall.

Good chance for Bright, Gibbs-White & Hause. Assume we will see Rafa & Oskar Rasmussen off the bench at some point today.

Glad to see MGW get a chance.

I see our boy Oskar has sneaked into the bench too.

A stronger team than I expected. I thought Doherty and Bonatini might have been rested.

Swansea seem to be matching us. Routledge, Dyer and Bony their attacking players. Fer and Sanches in the middle. So I think we will be okay in terms of numbers in midfield

Yeah, Price clearly not in plans at all whereas he at least got some league cup games earlier in season, MGW has taken his spot which is great really.

Could see Goncalves in midfield at some point too I suppose. Shame no Herc on the bench.

Swansea -

Nordfeldt
Roberts
Van Der Hoorn
Fernandez
Bartley
Olsson
Sanches
Fer
Dyer
Routledge
Bony

Seems they are playing more genuine first team players than we are? (Fernandez, Olsson, Sanches, Fer, Bony, Routledge/Dyer)

Didn't we give Price a new contract recently?

Price was given a new contract but that won't mean much as we have handed out contracts and sold shortly after before. I guess Nuno has seen better from other players including MGW, shame for Price but we have moved on.

Nordfeldt is absolutely mince so I hope we test him whenever we can.

Personally I think it's crazy to risk Doherty in these games.
