Swansea (H) FA cup build up

I'm pretty confident in any side we put out giving Swansea more than a match, as I assume they will play a second string side.

If we get through to the last sixteen or something that is when I'd be wanting us to take it more serious, as by that point you would hope we have wrapped up the league

Difference this year is that when we make that many changes the players coming in are still being played in appropriate positions & know what they are supposed to be doing.

A drop in quality (Neves is better than Price) but decent organisation & a plan for how you play goes a fair way to getting a good result (prime example being the Man City game - only out on penalties which are a lottery & with a bit of fortune could well have won that)

Swansea 4/1 to win. Has a PL team ever been that high against a Championship club?

Don’t think a PL side has been such underdogs or least expected to win against a side from a lower division.
Stress free weekend still have some football to enjoy but don’t have to worry about dropping points.

As I said in the Loan thread, will Aaron Simpson play RWB instead of Doherty, as he has been suddenly recalled from Telford?

If Batth wasn't banned, I feel he would have played CB with Bennett outside him, but now he's out, Simpson could be a shock selection.

I really want doc to have a rest. It's totally against what Nuno does but could ndaiye play as RWB?

I really want to see what Marshall could do there

If Nuno thought Marshall could play RWB he would have played there before now. In the league cup games he played Graham and Bennett there ahead of him.

Weve got shorter odds than Bournemouth beating Wigan.

That's the bookies thinking we're more likely to beat a premier league team than a premier league team is to beat a league one team.

Insane

---------------- Norris ----------

------ Miranda - Coady - Hause -

Bennett --- N'Diaye -- Price --- Vinagre

------- Costa ---------- Bright -------

Cavaleiro
Jota
Bonatini

Bennett, Coady and Costa should have no problems playing this one as well.

No way should we be playing our first choice RCB in a demanding position like RWB for a cup game.

Plus he can't play there. It's like sticking dear old Dave on the right wing.

But playing our first choice RWB is ok? When we have zero proper cover for him?

If Bennett were to pick up an injury we have Hause or Miranda as backup.

MGW for me, looks like he can do a bit of everything, should be good there.

For me...

Norris
Buur - Bennett - Coady - Hause - Vinagre
N'Diaye - Price
Gibbs-White - Mir - Enobakhare

Really unsure about the center halves apart from Hause who I think will surely start, but I can't see anyone else doing the Coady role at the moment and I don't know if any of the U23s are ready even for a cup game at that position.

It's a conundrum but Bennett isn't the answer to it.

Would you put Hause at LWB if Douglas and Vinagre were unavailable?

He basically played as a RB against city.

He seemed to do alright away at Man City.

Played basically as an orthodox RB (and did ok, in that kind of clunky way that right footed centre halves do at RB).

That break into the box at Sheff Wed sums up why he can't play there. He'll try, he'll defend ok but at home it's not a defensive role, we'll be all over Swansea.

He was okay there when we knew we would be under pressure pretty relentlessly. Against Swansea I think we'll look to be more attacking and Bennett at RWB more or less takes an entire half of the field away from us in possession.
