Refereeing question

Another reason to agree the referrals are a bag of wank idea.

I am going to ask a question now. Why was the penalty shoot out at Anfield held in front of the Kop?

Isn't there a toss to decide at which end the penalties take place?

Have I read/heard somewhere that the referee can insist on a certain end however for safety reasons, or if an end is empty?

A toss of a coin used to decide which end the penalty shoot out would take place from. However this was changed sometime ago, whereby the referee would decide which end they would be taken from. The reason I asked the question is because at the other end, there was a split with supporters of both teams in that stand. So I wondered why the referee chose the Kop end?

Bribery?

Met Craig Pawson and Kevin Friend last night. Both good guys.

The former gave a talk on recognising fouls.

I am not sure that the referee association would approve of a referee assaulting players......!!

Loved how he casually showed the red to the two guys in white sheets just standing in the technical area. Also loved the ref's kick when the assistant was shielding him trying to calm things. ;)

The next time Joey Barton aims a tirade of abuse at the referee, I wonder if the referee will re-act like that....

There has been a bit of discussion in refereeing circles regarding the Millwall v Wolves game yesterday, and the game being re-started before the Wolves substitute was in position. Law 3 covers substitutes and states that "the substitution is completed when the substitute enters the field of play" So the referee was correct as per law, but it is accepted practice to allow the substitute to take up his position before allowing the game to re-start.

Thanks Frank that clarifies the position, though in reality Kenny made a mistake in trying to do a defensive substitution at a point when we had no control as to when the ball would become live again.

If you are going to do that then make sure the ball is well into their half or that you have some control over when it comes back into play & give yourself time for any reorganisation that is needed.

Swansea manager Gary Monk could be in trouble for remarks he made after their game at Stoke City. But who is to blame for the penalty awarded to Stoke. Their is no doubt in my mind that Moses dived, but look at it again, and the referee was in an excellent position, so should he have given Swansea a free kick, and cautioned Moses?

I quite like Michael Oliver but "evening up" decisions is a horrible trait in officials. His fault 100%.

He was having a good game until that point. Got everything right, it was just all against Stoke so the crowd weren't happy. The crowd were giving him abuse and this must have got to him. Awful decision

I really do hope he did not give the penalty to even things up. The first penalty was an excellent decision, and indeed the crowd were getting onto him, but you must be big enough to make decisions based on what you see. And sadly, I don't think Michael Oliver did that.
