Nuno to leave Wolves

We’ve been far, far too generous with managers before. Keeping them way beyond their sell by date. Still not sure this is the correct decision, but at least the timing is impeccable for once
 
Well, if you agree with sacking him in the first place, which I don't.

We sacked Solbakken at the right time, but if you then mess up the next step then it makes no odds.

That was more to do with Morgan just being a bellend too. See MM's timing of sacking. There was never a plan.

I'm not saying Fosun always have the right plan, but there is always a plan.

Personally I think the timing is poor. It will take time for a new guy/back room to put their stamp on the team and get them playing the way they want, so thats another season gone. Would have made more sense to give Nuno till xmas and if we were still struggling, then bring in a new manager.

What more evidence do we need though? 17 defeats this season and no discernible style . Wolves have been criticized in the past for keeping managers too long. This was a win /win time if you're making a change. Prices are lower thanks to Covid, the players who may move are not the highest value and a new man can bring in a couple of trusted lieutenants. Portuguese makes total sense and don't be too surprised if we get more coming in if Lage or Fonseca take over. Personally I am excited to see developments. Remind me I said that at Christmas if it goes belly up!

I'm with you. I think we forget we're not shopping in the managerial market of Championship cloggers anymore. We can realistically attract someone half decent and have a good season.

And actually we are an attractive proposition for managers. Established premier league team that needs a bit of love. Call Jeff for info..

I know it's tinpot in the grand scheme of things and probably on a par with blues retiring Jude Bellingham's shirt but I'd really like to see something for Nuno as a bit of recognition / thanks for the work he did.

We are shopping in a supermarket with about 3 items on the shelf if rumours are to be believed. That's my issue as much as the sacking
 
As Booz said it didn’t seem like Nuno had been forced out from his demeanour at the end - he came to us in the NB first and although he looked sad he also looked like he had a weight lifted from his shoulders. I bloody love the man, hope that he is happy in himself in the future - he’s left us infinitely better off.

I thought the same after he spoke on the pitch when they asked him what he was doing next and he said he was going to spend some time with his family.

If you were expecting Nuno's sacking and were asked to compile a list of realistic replacements how highly would Lage figure? Would he figure? Do you think he would on many fans lists?

If anything, I think Dan's reservations is that Jeff Shi is possibly sleepwalking into Steve Morgan sized pitfalls.

Bruno Lage has not been on anyone's radar before the last two days, let's not make fiction here.

I would not directly compare anyone to Dean Saunders, that would be incredibly disrespectful. However - plucking a manager out of absolutely nowhere with no CV that should have gone further than the admin assistant is very similar.

I hope it isn't him because I'm 99.9999% sure it won't go very well.

My 'evidence' is the previous 3 seasons. If course its possible Nuno wouldn't be able to turn it round with some new signings and his best players back but for me the odds are more on Nuno sorting it than not.
I could understand it if Fosun and Nuno think they've gone as far as possible and they have a better alternative lined up........maybe they have and I'll have to eat my words...hope so.
