Loan Watch 2021-22

Blade in peace here.

please don’t waste his talent by benching him week in week out. We had same problem with Dean Henderson at MUFC, should’ve just stayed and built his experience with us.

Just to pick up on this part its understood MGW pushed for the loan because there was no promises of playing time here so hopefully if he comes back and realises the same he'll move on for the sake if his own career.

Obviously, if you win the PO's and make an offer it would make it a fairly easy decision for him if we're still not going to involve him.

I hope to god we are considering him next year. Have said for quite a while he really does have the talent.
Given the other discussions we are having at the mo, it shows him in a good light that he stuck to his guns and pushed for the loan so he could play.

Fair play if he pushed for it. That shows maturity and bravery. Could’ve easily just stayed. If we go up then yes, it really does look like he’s found a second home here - on all our club social vids he’s always at the centre of things, smile on face and has built strong connections with the squad and staff.

He was actually very good in pre-season for us I thought. Probably one of the best performers (although we weren't brilliant in the friendlies). Definitely wise for him to go and get the games though, and he's clearly thriving where he feels loved. We just need to make him feel that way come the summer. Him behind Raul with Neto and Podence/Hwang outside him in my opinion has decent potential.

Hwang?!

He looks awful.

Only because Bruno loves him. If he's still here, he will pick him. Podence and Neto as wide players cutting inside would be my preference though.

If that is the case then Bruno loving him will turn out the same way as loving Dave Edwards did for Kenny Jackett or loving Steve Corica did for Mark McGhee.

He's really bad. My sole hope with that one is we can hoodwink some lazy club and say "look, here's a forward, plays anywhere across the front three, scored some Premier League goals including at Arsenal" and try to coin a very small, very cheap profit. Because he is not ever going to be the answer for us based on what we've seen so far.

As per Spiers we asked MGW to come back in Jan and he said he'd prefer to stay where he was.

If they go up he's gone

A quick midweek update:

Dadashov - Came on for the last half an hour in Tondela's 1-1 draw and didn't do much.

MGW - Got a goal and an assist in one of his best display of the season. First teed Sharp up for the 6th time this season (who does he think he is, Andy Keogh?) then crowned his performance with an outrageous flick first time from a cross.

Giles - Played 77 minutes of a 0-0 draw at home to Millwall. Whipped a dangerous ball across the box in the second half which Blackburn almost scored from.

Corbeanu - Played the full game in a 3-1 win over Cheltenham. Used some decent footwork to put his Troy Parrott in for the third, but almost came a cropper just before when his last-ditch challenge cannoned off his own keeper.

Ronan - played the full game at Dundee and somehow found himself as the furthest man forward late on when he got onto the end of a cross to guide a diving header home to win the game 1-0. St Mirren are now just a point off Hibs in fourth.

Goal at the end:

Sondergaard - played in a 3-3 draw at home to Tamworth. Saved a pen but couldn't hold onto it and they put in the rebound, then let in a soft second where a shot went through his arms.

Young - played in a 1-1 draw at home to Ashton United. Couldn't do much about the goal: a great free kick that flew in top corner.

Great goal from Ronan - he just keeps scoring up there .

It's O'Shaughnessey rather than Sondergaard and he's having a very poor loan. Not ready for men's football is the general view

I've read we gave him the option of coming back rather than asking him.

Whatever happens to him I think he's made the right choice, I hope he comes back here but could see him moving on.

His full story up today is different than that. Seems like he knows he has a future in the team next year is how it reads.

Of course... Twitter clickbait post attracts fury, full story follows

To be fair, being given the option to do something sounds an awful lot like when my wife says to me ‘it’s up to you.’ We all know the rest.
