Loan Watch 2021-22

Thanks for the kind comments, chaps!

Giles played the full 90 last night, but Rovers' losing run with him in the team continues. MGW came on for the last 20 minutes and got the assist for the second goal, that helped put our friends from Sandwell over one division behind us...

Connor Ronan scored a penalty and played the full game in St Mirren's 1-1 draw: that's six in the league for him now.

Cracking cross from Adama sets up the equaliser in the last minute. Super ball.

Mind, they should have lost that match. Look predictably unstable with Adama wide right.

Adama Traore and Luuk de Jong combining to give Barcelona a last gasp equalizer against Espanyol to rescue a point.

Weird fucking sentence.

Incredible ‘marking’ from Espanyol, really making Adama work for the cross

From the weekend:

Adama Traore - Barcelona, La Liga

Played the full game in the Catalan derby and popped up with the last-minute assist, as mentioned. A cross from deep that we never really saw from him at Wolves, but it was all hands to the pump for Barca at that stage. Had another shot well saved, too.

Morgan Gibbs-White - Sheffield United, The Championship

72 minutes in his first start in a while in a goalless draw at Huddersfield. Had a relatively quiet game.

Theo Corbeanu - MK Dons, League One

Played just over an hour in a 0-0 draw at home to Ipswich. Played on the right and had a scuffed shot well saved, and put in a nice cross that almost led to a goal.

Luke Matheson - Scunthorpe, League Two

Played the full game in a 3-0 defeat at Swindon. Unfortunately seems like League Two forwards don't have much trouble getting past him.

Patrick Cutrone - Empoli, Serie A

Started at home to Cagliari and lasted just over an hour before being subbed off.

Connor Ronan - St Mirren, SPL

Another full game and another goal, this one a pen as St Mirren beat St. Johnstone 2-1. St Mirren are now a point off 4th and a Conference League spot.

Jack Scott - St Patrick's Athletic, Irish Premier Division

Played a full game at RB as St Patrick's lost in the Irish version of the Community Shield.

Bruno Jordao, Hayao Kawabe, Jeong Sang-Bin, Bendeguz Bolla, & Leo Bonatini - Grasshoppers Zurich, Swiss Super League

Bolla played the full game in a 2-0 win, while Jordao got 76 and Kawabe got 85, before being subbed off for Bonatini.

The first goal came from a lovely floated ball into the box from Jordao that was flicked on then nicely put away. Kawabe played a part in the second, finding himself in the box then laying the ball off for the assist.

Jackson Smith - Kettering Town, National League North

Played in a 2-1 win at Blyth Spartans. Made a couple of solid saves and was unlucky not to keep the goal out after a deflection sent him the wrong way.

Louie Moulden - Ebbsfleet, National League South
Played in a 2-2 draw with Slough. Was lucky to get away one when he missed a cross and the shot was just saved on the line. Hesistated for the second, should have come and cleared it but stood rooted to the spot - the defender didn't help by passing it straight to a forward, though.

Joe O'Shaughnessy - Hednesford Town, Southern League Premier Division Central (7th tier)

Played in a 1-1 draw at Redditch. Tipped the ball over well for one header, but then snatched at a cross in the last minute which led to the equaliser.

Joe Young - Matlock Town, Northern Premier League (7th tier)

Sounds like the elements got to young Joe in this one, with wind and rain contributing to two goals conceded. Made some decent stops, though, as his team battled to a 2-2 draw at Whitby.

On as sub: Dadashov came on for the last 20 minutes of a 1-0 defeat at Estoril, while Lonwijk helped with another shoring up in his 10-min cameo in a 1-0 win.

Unused subs: Sanderson, Vinagre, Sondergaard,

Not in squad:
Richards

No game: Campana, He, Giles (playing tonight)

Vinagre on the bench for Sporting vs Man City (Pedro "the 2020s Stan Collymore" Goncalves starts)

Sanderson still on the bench even though QPR have lost a couple

Full games for both Giles and MGW this midweek. MGW forged the best chance of the first half for himself but the shot deflected over the bar.

Sanderson and Sondergaard were unused subs.

I think one of the qpr CBs is a booking away from a 2 game ban. Hopefully that's collected tonight
You're right about this, Robert Dickie was 1 away and he did get a yellow card. So Sanderson is in line for two games as Dickie is also the RCB.

Saw Jack Scott's league debut for St Pats last night, neat and tidy on the ball and fairly composed without being too ambitious for the first hour. Must be a dead ball specialist as well as he stood over a free kick on the edge of the area ( other option took it and made a balls of it). Wilted noticeably after that sloppy in possession and caught out of position was no surprise when he got took off after 75mins.

Still when you consider teams first league game of the season, live on national tv, local Derby, away to newly promoted club with a newly appointed high profile manager (Damien Duff), full house in a tight hostile ground and storm Eunaice to contend with, experiance wise he should come on a bundle for that.

Someone was on here recently saying that under 23 football no longer fit for purpose for young players development, this week heard two irish journalists doing a LOI preview for the season and one said that there had been a marked increase in the quantity and quality of players loaned by Premier League teams to LOI and the feedback he was getting was that it was due to the Under 23 leagues shortcomings.

U23 is essentially a shop window to get players out on loan

Very few players will go straight from u23s into PL sides.

€10m for half a Vinagre. Another dodgy Mendes deal. They'll sell him for less than that at some point and he'll get half straight in his pocket
