Loan Watch 2019-2020

Cheers Kenny. Rodders is now added.

Weekend action:

Ivan Cavaleiro - Fulham, The Championship.

Played 81 minutes of a 1-1 draw at Cardiff - got the assist for Mitrovic's goal, putting it on a plate for him with a first-time pass across goal.

Ryan Giles - Shrewsbury Town (League One)

Played 64 minutes of a 3-0 defeat at Ipswich. Not much to report other than a shot over the bar and some good work that put in a team-mate for a chance on goal that was well saved. Caught upfield for the first which allowed an opponent to nip in behind.

Renat Dadashov, Pacos de Ferreira, Portuguese Primeira Liga

Kept his place and played the full game in a 1-0 defeat at home to 10-man Maritimo. Again playing in the centre of a front three he showed some decent link-up play to set up a chance that a team-mate put wide - he also had a tap-in ruled out for handball. Also nipped in behind the defence to have a shot saved at the end.

Unused subs: Mir, Norris

Not in squad: Bright, Bonatini, Herc, Ronan

No game due to their opponents going out of business: John, Ennis.

Another goal for John, this time in the whateverthefrigitscallednow Trophy

Another goal for John, this time in the whateverthefrigitscallednow Trophy
Not as good as his last one, just a simple tap-in, but he might well becoming the next EEL with this goal-scoring record.

Deslandes continues his European adventures by joining Bulgarians Lokomotiv Plovdiv for the season. Connor Johnson is staying a little closer to home, he's off to Kilmarnock.

Sadou Diallo to Accrington until January.

Cheers DW, added to the list.

He was an unused sub at the weekend.

Cameron John got another full game in a 2-1 win at home to Rotherham. Niall Ennis also came on for the second half and 'changed the game' according to Darren Moore. Some good work from him produced an assist for the equaliser and he won the penalty for the winner.

The relevant highlights are from around the minute mark;

From this weekend:

Ivan Cavaleiro - Fulham, The Championship.

Played a full game in a 1-1 draw at home to Sandwell Town. A lively display that saw him have a couple of attempts on target saved. Slipped a pass to Knockaert for their goal, here's the link for anyone who wants to see it and definitely not laugh at Johnstone's comedy goalkeeping.

Ryan Giles - Shrewsbury Town (League One)

Just like Cav, a full game in a 1-1 draw in London and an assist to his name. Chasing a long pass over the top he managed to hit in a cross first time for his teammate to equalise. EEL helpfully scored an own goal for the home side.

Assist on 1.20

Cameron John and Niall Ennis - Doncaster Rovers (League One)

A clean sheet and a full game for John in a 0-0 draw at Ipswich. Ennis will feel frustrated though after a busy game offered him a few chances that he couldn't put away - he was withdrawn with six minutes to go.

*Miranda made his debut for Famalicao but was taken off injured after 15 minutes or so.

On as sub: Sadou Diallo made his debut for Accrington, coming on after an hour in a 3-1 defeat at home to Sunderland.

Unused sub: Norris

Not in squad: Bright, Mir, Johnson, Bonatini, Herc, Ronan, Deslandes, Dadashov.

Miranda played didnt he? Got injured early on though

Played 14 minutes I think and they are top of the league (or they were after they won that game).

May also have been a debut for ex-Wolf Goncalves.

Ennis and John both got full games last night in a 1-0 defeat at home to Blackpool. Ennis had a shot cleared off the line after rounding the keeper.

Ryan Giles also played the entire match in a 4-3 win over Southend. He didn't score or assist but crashed a 25 yarder off the bar and caused havoc with his direct running. Two of Southend's three goals did come down the left flank though which suggest he might get caught forward a fair bit.

Unused subs: Norris, Diallo.

What was the point of sending Norris on loan unless one of us kneecaps the Ipswich first choice.

From the weekend:

Ivan Cavaleiro - Fulham, The Championship.

Played 66 minutes of a 1-1 draw at Sheff Wednesday but had a quiet game. Not much to say other than he had a couple of sniffs of goal which he squandered.

Ryan Giles - Shrewsbury Town (League One)

Another solid 90 minutes in a goalless draw at Rotherham and, like in the previous game, caused problems with his running. Had a shot well tipped over the bar.

Cameron John and Niall Ennis - Doncaster Rovers (League One)

Both got a full game in a 2-0 win over Peterborough. Ennis was booked for diving though, unfortunately.

*A special mention for Leo Bonatini who actually started for Vitoria Guimaraes last week but was subbed off in the second half. He also started at Standard Liege in the Europa League but was again withdrawn with no goal to his name yet.

On as sub: Renat Dadashov made a return to Pacos' squad and came on as sub with 16 to go in a 2-1 win, while Connor Ronan was another one back after a spell out coming on after 76 minutes in a 1-0 defeat for DAC.

Unused subs: Norris, Diallo, Johnson, Bonatini.

Not in squad: Bright, Mir, Deslandes, Miranda.

From last weekend and this mid-week.

Ivan Cavaleiro - Fulham, The Championship.

Started at home to Wigan in a 2-0 win and again seemed to be off-colour in a quiet display. He was replaced by Bobby Reid after 69 minutes who took his place for Tuesday night’s game where Ivan remained an unused sub.

Ryan Giles - Shrewsbury Town (League One)

Another full game for Giles but a bad defeat - 3-0 at home to Fleetwood. Blazed a good chance over the bar and let a forward get in front of him to score the third as well. One to forget.

Niall Ennis - Doncaster Rovers (League One)

Started at Coventry (or St Andrews) and was subbed after 51 minutes after a quiet showing.

Connor Ronan - DAC Streda, Slovak Superleague

Got his first full game in a while in a 1-0 win.

On as sub: Renat Dadashov and Leo Bonatini were both second half subs for opposing teams in the 1-0 last-minute Vitoria win over Pacos Ferreira.

Speaking of Leo, he was given another start last night at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in a 1-0 defeat. Had a couple of unsuccessful attempts at goal before being subbed off after 65 minutes.

Unused subs: Norris, Diallo.

Not in squad: Bright, Mir, John, Johnson, Herc, Deslandes, Miranda.

Which of those not in matchday squads are injured?

Rodders is, he went off very early in a recent game.

John is out for "a good few weeks" and is back here having treatment on an ankle injury.

So Bright and Mir just aren't in the squad on merit?

Utter horse shit loans.

Bright was injured. Seems to have played a couple of U23 games, then keeps getting little knocks here and there.
Mir also injured but close to a return

Mir was out for the whole of September with some unspecified "leg injury". Of course if he doesn't get any goals when he is fit then he won't play much.

Bright hasn't even been on the bench since the middle of August. I don't know what's going on there. The thing is we had to send him to a Championship club, no-one in League One has appreciable transfer funds to spend on a player like that, if we want a decent (£1m+) fee at some point then he has to prove himself at that level. His problem if he's failing to do so, we know how ineffectual he can be and he also can only really play in one position.

Do our lower league loans come back to Compton for treatment when they're injured. I ask because I'm sure our medical facilities are better than Doncaster's, for instance.

Yes, CJ is back here now.
