Loan Watch 2019-2020

Good on him. He looks a good prospect.

From this weekend:

Dion Sanderson - Cardiff, The Championship

Played a full game in a 2-2 draw at home to Brentford. Could have got a better hold on his man for the goal but he seems to be holding down a place there.

Luke Matheson - Rochdale, League One.

Played the full game in a 3-0 loss at Portsmouth. Did well to clear with a header just before the second, but it fell to a Pompey forward who crashed it home.

Niall Ennis - Doncaster, League One.

Started at home to Wycombe and opened the scoring with some nice footwork to take him past a defender and then a deflected finish. Subbed on 73 minutes as Donny won 3-1. A big win for them against a team near the top of the table.

Connor Ronan - Blackpool, League One

Played 67 minutes of a 2-1 win at home to Ipswich.

Elliot Watt - Carlisle United, League Two.

Started at Cambridge and stung the keeper’s palms with a fierce left-footed drive early on, and then the opening goal came from one of his corners that Cambridge couldn’t clear. He was subbed on 72 minutes then Carlisle got the winner a minute later to make it 2-1.

On as sub:

Jordan Graham came on for second half at home to AFC Wimbledon and swung a great free-kick in injury time which they should have scored from, but instead lost 2-1. BAS came on for the last 10 minutes in a goalless draw at Bolton while Austin Samuels came on for the same amount of time for Kiddy in a 1-0 defeat. Rafa Mir came on after an hour in a 2-2 draw with Extremadura, where Shinji Okazaki was his side’s star man

Unused subs: Diallo, Norris, Giles, Herc.

Not in squad: Bennett, Bonatini, Hong Wan.

No game: Cutrone, Miranda, Johnson, Hanne, Francis.

Bennett not on the bench for Leicester even in a cup game, he was on ours v Utd, but I don't think that makes him cup tied. That £5m isn't coming

Maybe Brendan just wanted to nick a player off us? Surprised the sly bastard didn't ask for Moutinho...

Trying to not be all 'I told you so' but we needed to force them to buy him or not do the deal, they were desperate for an experienced centre half, they tried for Vestergaard first.

We got £2m and his wages off the books for six months. Fine with me.

Did we get £2m? Not seen that figure before, that would soften how I feel about the deal

But if Benno had decided he wanted to go, then the power was out of our hands really. We all know Nuno will push a player straight out of the door if they are unhappy.

He looked a right miserable fucker warming up in front of us at times. Didn’t even respond to fans clapping him when he first came out to warm up, which pretty much all do.

We wouldn't have allowed it to happen for magic beans. So there will definitely have been some fee. No idea if the £2m is correct though.

There's a strong rumour going around at Leicester that they didn't properly scrutinise the contract and thought it stipulated an option to buy at £5m, not an obligation. Now they've realised their mistake they've decided not to play him.

Start, clean sheet and assist for Sanderson.

I imagine if that were the case and there's actually an obligation then they'd maybe show more interest in playing him.

I don't believe there was a mistake, though.

I wouldn't believe that for a second personally. Legal advisors for clubs spot that sort of thing. No chance on earth that option / obligation mistakes get through scrutiny, unless the entire legal team and outside advisors like the idea of being fired.

From this weekend, and one or two from tonight:

Dion Sanderson - Cardiff, The Championship

A full game at Barnsley in a 2-0 win and put in another fine performance. Involved in the build-up to the first goal and got an assist with a fine long pass for the second. Included in Whoscored’s Championship team of the week

Luke Matheson - Rochdale, League One.

Another full game in a 3-1 win at home to Rotherham.

Niall Ennis - Doncaster, League One.

Played 56 minutes of Rovers’ 1-0 win at McDons. Had a couple of shots at goal but neither hit the target.

Will Norris - Ipswich Town, League One.

A return to the net for Norris, but Ipswich’s slump continues as Coventry grabbed a 1-0 win at Portman Road.

Connor Ronan - Blackpool, League One

A pair of full games for Ronan the past few days. First in a 0-0 draw at Fleetwood then in a 2-1 home defeat to Tranmere tonight in which he was unlucky not to get an equaliser, crashing a shot off the post.

Jordan Graham - Gillingham, League One.

Handed a start at the Stadium of Light and seemed to put in a decent first-half performance; was even praised for his defending at one point. Got booked later on and then was withdrawn just before the hour.

Elliot Watt - Carlisle United, League Two.

Started by playing just the first half on Saturday, being subbed off with his side 2-0 down at home to Colchester. Played the full game tonight and got the assist for the second from a corner in a 2-0 win at Newport.

Roderick Miranda - Famalicao, Portuguese Primeira Liga

Played the full game in a 0-0 draw at Pacos de Ferreira.

On as sub:

Patrick Cutrone came on after 72 minutes in a 0-0 draw at Udinese, Austin Samuels came on for the last 15 minutes for Kidderminster in a 2-1 win at Southport, while Rafa Mir came on for the last few minutes for SD Huesca in their win.

Unused subs: Diallo, Giles, Johnson

Not in squad: Bennett, Ashley-Seal, Bonatini, Herc, Hong Wan.

No game: Hanne, Francis

David Wang isn't at Granollers any more. He's at Nantong Zhiyun (Chinese second tier).
