Brilliant 2-1 win for Famalicao which puts them 5th and in a Europa League spot. Rode their luck a bit but you're always going to have to given the gulf in resources.
Rodders - I'm even more confused now than when he played for us. This could just be instructions for this particular game but he never looks to bring the ball out any more and he's the most invisible centre half I've seen in a long time. They seem to actively keep him away from any aerial challenges (remember how Hugill and Matt Smith mullered him in successive games), he doesn't sweep up much, he doesn't do much last ditch stuff...you wonder what it is he's actually doing. I mean they won and Porto didn't get in behind so much, so I suppose he can't have been all bad, but it's very strange. We know he won't play for us again but he is under contract here for another year. Maybe we'll just let them keep him.
Goncalves - I was wondering why he hadn't been hooked as Porto were getting on top and he'd barely had a kick. I suppose that's why! Carried the ball well, it's a pretty hopeful strike but as said the keeper is miles away from where he should be, an odd goal. He's not a clone of anything we currently have but given that he contributes next to nothing defensively and has a tendency to disappear...I don't think he would ever fit in with us unless he changes his game. Ability there but he's not quite for us even if he does develop (on current ability alone he wouldn't get anywhere near).
Still nothing impressive from Porto. I appreciate these aren't ideal circumstances, Telles was missing too and he tends to be their best player in the few games I've seen of theirs over the last couple of years.
