"Wolves go to bogey team Huddersfield in the Championship tonight aiming to bounce back after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Reading ended their eight-match unbeaten run.
The Molineux head coach believes his team have been below-par for three games but believes they can improve as they bid to close the five-point gap to the play-offs.
“Our performances have been average and we can do better,” said Jackett.
“I don’t think we’ve been right up there for three or four games.
“I don’t think there was any lack of effort on Saturday, but I felt from the games against Charlton and Bolton we needed to improve.
“You look at all sides of the game – whether it be defending or going forward, creating chances and having enough finishers on the pitch.
“They’re the very important combinations and the ones constantly being assessed to try to find a winning formula.”
Jackett believes the squad is good enough to challenge for the top six.
“We don’t have the biggest of squads but I think it’s a good, well-balanced squad,” he said.
“There’s certain areas, certain combinations we need to find and be able to be more incisive, create more chances to help us to be the winning team we want to be.
“We have to really concentrate tonight and put in a big, top-class performance.”
