Everton 4-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

It's elite professional football. Should players shrink and leave the field when when they get booed or criticised too?

Have you watched the video? It's not like he's in physical danger. Just clap your fucking hands and go inside, don't just blank the fans and then tell the players to stop clapping them too.

He's properly out there with the fist pumps when there's glory to be had though
Not sure how I'd react tbh. I mean he could clap his hands but it wouldn't change the fact we are shit, highly likely to go down and he is about to be sacked.

Doesn't have to change it, but it's just a modicum of respect. You can literally see the point at which the 'wanker' chants start en masse.

If he didn't want to work in the pressure cooker of PL football he shouldn't have applied

He's just a fucking oddball, and not in a good 'wacky goalie' way
Agreed. Inconsistency is the worst thing (particularly in a keeper) and he has it in spades. Not from match to match either, but from minute to minute. Can't even be relied on to do 'basic' things so fuck the occasional 'great' save.

Just walk over and hold your hands up. Take it on the chin.

Your getting a massive payout tomorrow and can just fuck off to Dubai whereas we’re stuck with this mess.
100%.

Sad face, hands facing out, I'm sorry face, thanks for coming you deserve better.

It looked like he was basically dragging players away from the nasty, entitled fans with their boos. That's what instigated the wanker chants in my interpretation

Sa also in the video rubbing his shoulder like he gave a 2/10 performance because of a knock.

Boils my piss, that guy
Somehow got shorter whilst jumping for that third goal

I know it's conspiracy theory shit but for parts of the game I actually thought he was purposely letting stuff in, he was that ineffectual and erratic

I never ever ever want to see Sa, Doherty, Guedes or Hwang ever again, and that was a 'retire now' showing from Dawson who does at least try but is rapidly coming to the end.

What a mess.

I think I'll stick to working for a living.

Just watched the highlights. Madness how we are so, so disorganised at set pieces. That tweet about individual mistakes is madness.

Manager/coaches Job to set us up. Literally 0 excuses when it comes to set pieces. Either the players aren’t doing what he asks (don’t by that) or he’s not implementing a decent set up.

I’d be fuming playing sunday league to concede 4 goals from set pieces, let alone a premier league team.

Has to go now. Get someone in and give them some funds in January

Yeah definitely conspiracy as he comes out well for the 1 on 1. Just seems a very erratic, emotional guy. If things turn he seems to snowball.

As I said in the matchday thread, a performance as cowardly as the 0-5 v Fulham under Connor. And we all know what happened after that.

First time I can genuinely say some players weren't arsed. Everton could have had several more without having to work any harder.

We had players out there today who either didn't know what they were supposed to do or - even more worryingly - didn't want to do what they were supposed to do. The space Everton were allowed in key areas all night was unbelievable. Then we gave up even trying to defend set pieces. Very professional.

The attitude, the performance, the mentality all unforgiveable and it should 100% have finally cost GON his job.
Are you OK to say ‘cowardly’ as I said that earlier on the match thread & got abused? I totally agree with you.

Dawson has hit that age cliff it seems, part of that could be being rushed back too early but then even that is on the management. Given his injury last year it was unfair to expect over 30 games from him this season. This is again them not having or understanding the data for injuries and minutes like they should.

Partly agree cliff but also how we set up. We are so open he has no protection to mask is physical decline

That incident early in the first half when neither Dawson or Sa wanted the ball. Weird.
But that was on Sa.
It's just like 'come and get the ball, José, pick it up'.
Alternatively, if Dawson plays it to him, he can't pick it up and Sa has to use his feet. That's a very basic percentage call.
How can two seasoned pros get that wrong?
Sa is a weirdo.

100%.

This is absolutely spot on. Just acknowledge us if you’re going to come over. Deserved the wanker chants and whatever else we sang at him. Inept.

Generally I think most of the players deserve more grace. I'd probably be playing well below my potential (purposefully or otherwise) if I'd had to endure this shit for whole calendar year.

Still of the opinion that our problems are significantly weighted towards tactical rather than personnel. IMO this squad is not significantly less talented than our best ones under Nuno, but amazingly everyone looks quite shit when a coach who doesn't understand positionality tries to coach a sport almost completely about positionality.

Granted, I've seen nothing of the match today. But, equally, we have been making the exact same fuck ups twice a match or more since fucking February. It's not a mystery what the problem is.

Again, I think back to Spurs and how little Gary's tactics actually did to create our late goals. It was individual brilliance that saved him then, not anything he himself did. Fuck. Him. Off.

Related: if you can't even face the supporters with the same amount of dignity as Paolo di Nazio, you should see a therapist immediately, because you're less mentally tough than a fucking fascist prick.
