I can't get my head round it, to be honest. Wilshere has played 38 games this season. He's easily our best midfielder, even if he may be "over-rated".

Delph has done very well in spells this season, but we aren't playing with an inverted left back and he isn't a particularly good centre midfielder.

It would be a joke if he went and Wilshere doesn't. He's a fitness risk, I get that but he's fit at the moment. There isn't a scenario I can think of that would involve me starting or bringing Livermore on short of food poisoning taking out half the squad, but hey he answers his phone at the airport so he's a good lad.

Remember about two years ago how we put out a shocking midfield - Huddersfield away under Ken, I think - and then I posted an equally awful 90s comparison, and asked which one people would rather have? And the reaction was along the lines of "it's like being sick in your mouth or sick all down your clothes"?

He's not going to play this formation, but a 4231 could accommodate two of those with Sterling or Alli as the 10. In a 343 it's awful. We'll get out of the group, likely play Poland in the last 16 which I'd say is a 50/50 call and lose to Brazil or Germany if we win that
