England: Euro 2020 squad

Stones is better than Coady. He was one of our best players in the world cup in that position. His main issue seems to be staying fit (and off field stuff).

I like Bear's team but agree with Nando about Maddison.

Not bad Tone.

I'd play Foden ahead of Maddison.

It’s very different if we go for a back 3 - but given he’s publically moved away from it, do you think it’s an actual possibility for the euros?

I'd say it wouldn't have been in 2020 but it might be now.

It’s just pig headedness from Southgate. We do not have a good enough CD pair to win anything.

I rate Gomez highly but maybe he lacks regular football.

Stones annoys me these days, I know how good he can be.

Not a massive fan of Slabhead.

Michael Keane is dreadful.

I have to agree. 3 at the back took him deep into a tournament. a flat 4 will be shite.

Personally, I'd be building around our main threats in an attacking sense and that means we play a front three of Kane, Sterling, Sancho/Rashford and work back from there.

I think he wants us to be more proactive and try to control games, which i think eventually is the way to go. I don't think we currently have the midfielders nor is he the coach for it. a 343 suits us best IMO but he seems set on 433.

This - but he changed because we couldn’t hurt any of the good sides with five at the back because our midfield were shit, so he wants to go 4-3-3 so he can get another midfielder in - they’ll still be rubbish but will have another body to block the middle of the park up.

Gomez is good but how good? I think it's hard to say when he's paired with VVD as he will make anyone look better.

I like Gomez. Only concern is he keeps getting injured!

We are all pinning a lot of hopes on Gomez, I think that partly reflects on the lack of proven alternatives.

Liverpool are noticeably better when he is fit and in the side. When they have to play Lovren instead it shows.

He's class. We had more joy out of VVD than him last time we played them.

Think I'd go 352 rather than 343 as I'm not sure there's a creative midfield I'd trust in a 2, and that formation will bring the best out of the full backs. Not only aren't you doing that in a 4 you are also exposing their weaknesses.

I think Foden post restart and once David Silva leaves has to have pushed himself into the starting 11. He can have Maddison's place. Ox has to play more to keep his

I expect Foden to start getting call ups in September along with Greenwood. Englands do have depth now of forward thinking players, having the Euros delayed by 1 year might suit this side even more.

This would be mine right now. However, we all know Southgate won't go back to a back three and that Coady won't even get a call up.

Yeah I really don't think foden is the answer to our holding midfield issue FFS
