Cardiff 0 - 1 Wolves: The Verdict

That's Rui Pedro Silva. The chances of him saying 'you're a wanker mate' like a pissed up cockney is about 0%.

I should imagine our Portuguese contingent have all been given english expletives coaching by the brits in the team/club. :D

I have never gone as crazy at the TV as I did on Friday night. Absolutely ridiculous game, and I aged 10 years in 5 minutes. But so proud of yet another monumental effort from the players - there have been many times this season when we've just played other teams off the park and they haven't been able to touch us, but as the season has gone on, we have learned to be resilient, dogged, determined with a never say die attitude. Plenty of parallels to the Boro match but the manner in which we won was infinitely more satisfying. The very best teams have that extra gear that can pull them through tricky games, and we have that alongside the quality football we try to play whenever possible.

That 2nd half performance from Ruben Neves was something else. Watching him gee up his team mates, calming things down in possession, the space he found, the fact he almost always picks the right option when he has the ball - that performance epitomises the sort of player he is - he ran the midfield and his goal was outstanding. I could watch him all night. A colossus.

Ruddy was immense, as was Ryan Bennett. Boly v Zohore was a fantastic battle which Boly eventually won as Zohore faded in the 2nd half but the 1st half duel was awesome. I'd have Zohore here next season, I really like him. Coady was imperious except in the 92nd minute....

We deserved the 3 points but it's so nice to see lady luck on our side with the 2 penalty misses. No complaints whatsoever from me with either decision - Mike Dean had a good game and they were both definite fouls.

Not that I particularly care, but I do wonder what damage that might do to Cardiff. I'm looking forward to watching Warnock and Bruce squirm on the touchline tomorrow night because that game is huge for both clubs. If Villa don't win, there's no chance they're getting in the top 2. If Cardiff don't win, they may well find themselves out of the promotion places by the end of the night.... I can't wait for the schadenfreude and TBH I'll enjoy it if it's a scrappy clusterfuck of a game with arguments, bookings and bad tackles. Lolz.

I'm dying to talk about the game at work this morning but no one really cares. These people don't realise what I went through on Friday night!

It's SO nice to just be able to relax and enjoy the last few games now though. The (P) will come after the Derby or Blues game and the (C) will quickly follow on. I will enjoy watching all the other teams go through the stress while we are home and dry.

All the non-Villa football fans at work have been into our office to ask how I'm feeling :icon_lol:

They were all delighted - my Blackburn supporting mate who LOATHES Warnock called it a 'triumph of good over evil'.

Know exactly what you mean - and yeah, enjoyed watching what I saw of Norwich - Villa on Saturday and looking forward to Villa - Cardiff tomorrow night now. I must have missed it when they made it the law to show every Villa game throughout the season...

My boss is a Stoke fan so he is going through the complete opposite to me. He was gutted, said Stoke had played really well against Spurs at the weekend but still lost, and said he would miss playing teams like them week in week out next season. I think he's resigned to Stoke going down (and lets be fair, the writing is on the wall).

He's had the glory for way too long in this office (the other lads support Man Utd so don't count), so I'm looking forward to being the one who's able to discuss the PL fixtures next season while he enjoys trips to Preston, Ipswich etc!

Was talking to a few Albion, blues and villa fans this morning and one of them said 'your going to be the top West Midlands team next season' and I realised that is the first time in my whole God damn life I could say that!!!

Yep, frustrating how uninterested everyone is, much more conversation about the Manchester derby, which ultimately has no baring on anything.

I guess we'll get a lot more interest next season, especially after we've signed Ronaldo.......

And after the last 7 days, it's also weird to think that we're probably a lot happier with our respective end to the season than City fans are at the moment!

I can't even talk about the match at home. I tried telling my wife about it on Saturday morning and she really couldn't have cared any less :icon_lol:

My kids cheered when watching the highlights though. When they all piled on Ruddy at the end, my daughter said 'look, they're having a big hug because they're so happy'.

Me and the resident Albion fan were bonding earlier over lack of love for Warnock.

Even Leeds fans have been on our side since Warnock decided he was all classy and needed to teach a foreigner a lesson by telling him to fuck off

It was my daughter's birthday on Friday, and when I suggested it was the best present she could have wished for she didn't look overly impressed.

Funny enough 2 of my pals watched the game, and I spent best part of an hour discussing the game. Made me realise just how much I miss working in Wolverhampton

Pisses me of that my wife does not understand, I went running upstairs screaming on Friday may as well have been talking to a brick wall

And who says romance is dead.

:icon_lol:

To be fair, usually you can see my Mrs' eyes glaze over whenever I talk about Wolves to her or in front of her, but even she was getting involved right at the end of the Cardiff game.

I once convinced my wife to have a season ticket with me, it was Micks 2nd year in charge and we were dreadful so she lost interest fast. But the Cardiff game seems to have changed that again, whilst she wasn't quite the excited child I was dancing round the room she was loving the drama and enjoyed it.

I won't get her another season ticked after the last one, she might divorce me.
