My concern with shedding 10-15 of the squad is you really, really need to hit consistently to avoid getting into the same situation where we may have numbers but little quality in depth.

We need to do better in transfers generally, January was promising, but it's still a tough ask.

- Sell Jota for a lowish fee and on rubbish terms
- Sell Doherty who is shit, but his replacement is nothing like the same kind of player and you don't account for that, plus he's stupidly expensive
- Sign Fabio for THIRTY FIVE MILLION POUNDS when we have one striker in the squad
- Sign no proper central midfielders for two entire years (we own three and often play three)
- Sack the best manager we've had in 40, arguably 60 years, because reasons
- Sell our goalkeeper and swap in someone who isn't even his second reserve for the national team
- Appoint some idiot who doesn't have a CV that would fill a page
- Operate on a more or less £0 net spend for years
- Keep on the idiot despite us being obviously dreadful
- Get rid of tons of experience for basically free, because they all think he's a cunt
- Sign a dreadful player that Mendes has kept trying to push our way for years, for an enormous fee. He is shit
- Sack him but that means putting a L2 manager in charge for a bit, in the PL
- We're now bottom of the league after 15 games, we can't score and we pretty much lose every time we go 1-0 down

Wouldn't argue with any of your points. Where he took us from to where we are has been a fantastic job.

Looking to next season though his team selections, tactics and substitutions away from home are a concern. How many line ups have you looked at and thought, that's the team for this game? I don't mean marginal calls like do you pick Toti or Bueno, I mean players chronically out of position or formations that set us up to fail. How many times has he been forced into half time subs because of that?

To repeat where we are now to where we were is a tremendous job, the extremes leave me with longer term questions

DW is spot on about JL if he’d got us near to safety I’d have been impressed. The mess from Jeff, Bruno etc had potentially left clouldve set us back 5 years but JL has probably rescued that situation. He makes mistakes but so would most with these circumstances.

On the way back and it’s a strange one because usually i’d be fuming at that performance but i’ve gone past that and just had to laugh at it. Everything went wrong from the team selection and never got better.

I said at half time that I don’t understand how Julen keeps getting things so wrong right after he’s got them right. Excellent manager we know that but the bad things just aren’t sitting right with me at the moment, hopefully the summer can sort those out.

Sa - Decision making with the ball at his feet is appalling. Doesn’t know who to pass to, whether to go long or short and then blames whoever passes it to him. Games like Tuesday aren’t enough when every other game is like this.

Semedo - Think that was worse than in the home game. Far too high up especially when you look at his crossing ability. Left far too much space behind him and didn’t get close to Enciso when he was back anyway.

Dawson - Just a nothing game for him really, didn’t stand out like the others but he wasn’t good.

Kilman - Back to before the armband Kilman, passive, negative. Just not anywhere near good enough.

Bueno - Tried and wasn’t as bad as the rest of the back 4 but not great. Think he could be quality in a better set up team.

Lemina - Worst game yet. Never looked comfortable. Slotted in to right back when we had the ball in that first half and it left the midfield with wide open.

Gomes - Ratted about and tried to do what he does but had no help with Lemina in no mans lands and Neves wandering around aimlessly.

Neves - Getting away with today’s performance because he’s Neves from what i can see. Set the tone on Tuesday by smashing in to challenges and set the tone today by not getting anywhere near a Brighton player.

Nunes - Terrible for 2 of the goals and that’s gonna earn him the worst performance ever shirt. In reality he was terrible but did actually get near Brighton at times and should have scored. Also not having the doesn’t try nonsense.

Neto - Possibly the only bright spark. Looked to have his pace back and probably would have scored if it wasn’t for Coote. Would like to see him stay injury free and make an impact next season.

Costa - Did nothing. Isolated. Not seen a replay of the incident off the ball but don’t think it made that much of a difference.

Subs

Toti put himself about, Podence looked most likely to score but frustrated. Collins set Welbeck up. Hwang ran about and Adama didn’t have time to do much.

Don’t think it can get any worse than today here on in. We need to stop with the 3/4 centre mids, play 2 and try to get players in positions that suit them if possible. Not sure what we do defensively for the last few games. Semedo might be out so Jonny comes in and that’s not an improvement. Toti deserves a chance at centre back i think.

Seen a lot of fans talking about refunds for today, not for me that. Won’t say no if i’m offered it but would rather the lads make up for it over the last few games.
