Is sort of thing Mendes' new method for shifting players around since third party ownership has been clamped down on somewhat?
I imagine a few years back he could go touting players around at 50-60% of their value because he'd have company x/y/z stumping up the other half of what the selling club wanted in return for some ownership and future profit when Mendes inevitably moved them on again. Is Mendes now bringing this investment into clubs via people like Lim at Valencia and perhaps Fosun at Wolves so he can get his players moved about without having to get external funding?
It could still work out positively for Wolves, talented players coming in for a few years to showcase themselves and then be sold off at a profit, if it's managed properly then there's no reason you can't sustain some footballing success similar to Swansea or Southampton despite them frequently losing important players higher up the food chain. Problem comes if it's mismanaged and you've got players coming in for the sole purpose of being an investment, they don't fit in with the team, their heart's not in it, etc. Seems to be something like that happening at Valencia.
