Wolves 2-1 Chelsea: Verdict Thread

Compared to Gordon at Newcastle. Does everything Gallgher is meant to, but infinitely better.
Gordon? He plays left side of a front 3.

Gallagher plays central midfield, that's like comparing Gomes with Neto.

I've never had a good opinion of Gallagher, so didn't expect much, but he was way better than Gomes, particularly first half.

By saying you don’t think you’ll ever sing GoN barmy army, is that simply because you don’t want to, even when he does well?

You make some decent points regarding him, but it does seem you would struggle to give him any credit at all, even when deserved.

Today we rode our luck first 30. Were best team for next 45 mins or so. Scrappy game, few moments of real
Quality but felt we deserved the 3 in the end
Bit of a difference between singing his name and giving him credit when he gets something right.

I didn't see a style of play again today and it's a struggle to see what he's trying to do. I hate this isometric formation and managing to negate Hwang's abilities by needlessly putting him as a central striker.

I'm not a fan of his press conferences or the editorial pieces on him as I think he chats rubbish.

He's going to have to show a style of play before I sing his name.

But then people didn't like Lop for the same sorta of things.

He does have the excitement going though and Molineux was bouncing today. That's in his favour.

Think you're on your own here mate.

Joao had the terrible touch first half to lead to the squandered 3-on-1. Was a crap pass by Sa to start with. Superb second half.

Gallagher was a solid 5/10 all game and should have been sent off.

That’s fair. I misinterpreted what you meant. My mistake. I read it as if ‘when we do well and get a good result, I still won’t support him’

I agree with the style of play thing, where I’m not sure what we are if that makes sense.

Joao was poor first half. Class 2nd half.
Gallagher for me is average. If Chelsea have aspirations to be top 6/4/title contenders, you aren’t doing that with him as your starting CM and skipper.

If he existed in 2009, I wouldn't have wanted him over Karl Henry or David Jones.

Or a defence they can't defend or a forward line that can't score (although the lad off the bench might help fix that)

There is that. Bunch of frauds basically

What a weird game. That first half an hour was absolute bobbins. Fucking terrible stuff. Picked up for the 10-15 minutes either side of half time, and then a cracking header (though standing still seven yards out should never be a goal).

Thought after the goal we actually managed the game pretty well, the timing and the idea behind the subs was sound, and we pretty much had them at arms length until Kilman fell asleep.

Lemina was absolutely fucking phenomenal, what a player he is. Semedo and RAN also very good. Front three were dogshit.

It sounds churlish of me because I'd have been delighted with where we are if you'd asked me in August, but I'm just not feeling it fully though. I just think we should have more of an established style of play, the pressing is good but on the ball I'm still not sure what he wants us to look like tbh, but can have no complaints with the points and the goals, and he is a pretty likeable fella.

It's pretty obvious what we need in January but not getting particularly excited by it as I doubt it will come

Not having he was way better than Gomes, Joao had a couple of dodgy moments first half but excellent second half.

Our style of play is win the ball high up and then try and try and create something, normally down the outside with cut backs or direct running down the middle trying to commit players. Then when we are deep try and counter with ball carrying.

Another great Molineux result which made our first Christmas Eve fixture feel sweet as. As others have said, Lemina clear MOTM, what a signing he has proved to be. Popped to my parents tonight and sang the Lemina song to my dad as his name is very similar and works perfectly with it. They just stared at me though

Sa gives us a fright at times but I was really pleased he was back today and he pulled off some saves and stops that we wouldn't have got with Bentley.

Glad Dawson isn't too badly hurt and will hopefully be back for Wednesday.

Going into 11 minutes of injury time I said to my mate that a 2nd Wolves goal would be great to settle the nerves and lo and behold, Doc steps up but blow me, Nkunku then pulled one back to make it nervy again.

Sterling was an irritating prick and great that Coote, who was nowhere near his usual PITA self, finally lost patience. Funny hearing Poch whining about the need for new players afterwards given the huge recruitment drive of the summer.

Up to 11th and restoring the 10 point gap over the trapdoor, much needed after the West Ham debacle, very Merry Christmas Wolves fans!

What an odd game. Didn't look very fluid but somehow had 5+ huge chances. Didn't defend well but kept them at bay for 95 minutes. Sa was shaky but also key. Bloody Doherty scoring.

Looked atrocious from Kilman on their goal in real time but I'll have to watch it back.

Again from the other end thought it was handball at the start of the second half.

Lemina MOTM by a mile.

Closer to 6th than we are 18th so we can put that to bed for a while.
Agree Lemina was MOTM but Gomes was not far behind. He worked his socks off, won numerous tackles and covered every blade of grass.
