Wolves 1-0 Burnley: The 1-0 massacre Verdict Thread

Would Tarkowski even get in our team at the moment? Especially as we have a Belgian international we cannot even get on the bench. What a time to be alive...

Adama Traore. Few give and goes. Running into space to collect a pass. Every game he has played he has created goal scoring chances. Thought yesterday was his most complete performance which suggests work has been done on the training ground.

There wasn’t a poor performance and finishing aside it was as controlled a performance as you will see at this level but we still have room for improvement.

A mate of mine who is a Man Utd fan is obviously getting nervous. He text me straight after the game yesterday to say Wolves look good. He thinks Moutinho/Neves v Pogba/Lingard will be an "interesting battle". He did end the text with "Bonatini is fucking dreadful, though" - so wasn't completely complimentary :icon_lol:

Speaking to him further he reckons they'll sit Lukaku on Coady and they might get some joy from that.

Burnley tried sitting Barnes and Vokes on Coady yesterday. When it happened Coady calmly called Boly or Bennett across to deal with it leaving him free.

Having said that, on goal kicks Boly tried to be the free man so he could attack the ball unimpeded.

Nuno's too savvy to let simplistic things affect his game plan.

That was seriously impressive. Immediately after the game I had a very similar feeling to that which I had against Villa at home last November. Essentially we looked a class above the opposition.

We have a combination of numerous technically able players, a significant number of players developing their games, and a system which is flexible and effective. We're exceptionally well drilled, and players clearly know their roles. And they are getting more confident every game.

can't single out a player who'd get less than 7 out of 10 for that, and I include Bonatini in that. Thought he got into the game effectively, brought others in, and yes could've scored a hat trick.

Costa looked back to his old self, though he also had an exceptional game. And Jota also didn't look off his game as reports have indicated from recent games.

What a joy to watch Joao Moutinho. I didn't think it could get better than watching Neves rinse the championship every week, but fucking hell, what a class act. He's phenomenal.

First time I've seen Johnny Otto, and have to say was really impressed by him. Got forward well, looked creative, sound defensively. Massive upgrade on Douglas.

Also have to give significant credit to the work the coaching team are putting in. We've seen significant development in the games of all players, and we've seen comments that some fans have been surprised what they've seen in the past 2 years from players like Coady, Doherty and the like. Similar could be said for Costa getting his mojo back. A great example is the steady development of Ryan Bennett, who for me had gradually improved almost every game through his career. DW & I once had a conversation where DW proposed Bennett was nowhere near when Nuno arrived. Nuno worked with him on the training pitch for 2-3 months, as he was nowhere near the first team, and then introduced him when ready. And he hasn't let anyone down, indeed he gets much better each outing. Passing is significantly improved. His positioning and anticipation are really good now. It's almost like the system was made for him. Massive credit for the coaching team in spotting the potential and developing it so effectively.

On a related note, additional kudos to Nuno for being 1-0 up and not being afraid to put Gibbs-White on. Will do wonders for him too I suspect. Can't wait to watch him develop with this team and coaching staff.

We were great. Suspect on that showing we're well capable of top half.

Tarkowski had a really good game yesterday tbf. Always mopped up after Hart made a save and didn't let much by him one on one.

Ah the Stearman defence. The last ditch special.

Tarkowski was as poor as the rest of his defenders who allowed 30 attempts on goal.

I thought Tarkowski was dreadful. His defending for the Doherty chance was comical.

If Southgate is doing his job properly and sits down to watch the full match from yesterday, it will be a travesty if Tarkowski continues to be in and around the squad while Coady and, dare I say it, Bennett are overlooked. Even more so considering England are basically playing the same defensive set up as Wolves.

That was common consensus yesterday Jinks. Why look at players that just aren't up to the task of playing that way when you have two players that can. Clearly Stones and Maguire are top class players and better than both of Coady and Bennett and Southgate likes Walker as one of the three but there's no reason why Coady and Bennett can't be in that conversation.

Durham on Talkshite is absolutely fawning over us. Best promoted team ever apparently. He says if we had an absolutely top end striker we would be challenging the top four. They then played a clip from their comms yesterday and Ian Holloway said "years ago I was watching Brazil play this and I thought wow. Now I am watching Wolves do exactly the same"

Fair to say we are making an impression.

I didn't think much of Tarkowski. No where near as good on the ball as Coady and not any more solid defensively than Bennett. I'm obviously biased, but I'd have both of them in an England squad ahead of him. Desperate last with clearances was all he was good for and he gifted at least one good chance with a total fuck up.

Oh how i miss Frank's relentless negativity. He must be crying in to his draught bass seeing how happy everyone is.

Think he'd be fine now until winter window. Have him back on a schedule
