Wolves 1-0 Burnley: The 1-0 massacre Verdict Thread

My biggest concern right now is losing Nuno especially if we beat Utd.

Its certainly interesting to see what type of club could tempt Nuno away from the Wolves project over the next two seasons.

I'm not sure United would take another PL manager from lower down the food chain after Moyes. Not that I'm comparing the two.

I honestly can't envisage a scenario in which Nuno would walk. He's not ready for City, and is there another squad in the league that he would work with/would work with him as well as ours? He doesn't seem to be the sort whose head would be turned by money and, even if he were, where is a richer owner? The only way he's going is if Fosun change their minds about the project. I can see Nono/Wolves becoming a really long-term thing, like SAF or Wenger.

Something for Fosun to consider when do they make Nuno one of the highest paid coaches in the world game.

If his head wasn't turned by Everton last season then I can't see him being bothered by anyone outside of the big 6 and only Utd potentially could become available.

We're kidding ourselves if we think nuno would turn down United, or indeed any of the top 6. Say what you want about our potential, but we're still 3 years and £250m away from that level. Nuno's star is rising but he's an intelligent guy and knows only too well how quickly things can change in football, and how a couple of injuries and a dodgy month can almost ruin your career. If he gets an offer from one of those clubs he'd be daft not to take it tbh

Tbh I think Zidane may have half an eye on the Man U situation, as good as Nuno is I think United will want a big name and not an up and coming manager.

Del is right, if United come calling for Nuno he is going. The good thing for us is there is only really any point in him leaving Wolves for a top 6 team in this country and at the moment i'd wager they'd want more a high profile "name"

All speculation, of course - they won't come knocking yet - but I think Nuno's pragmatic enough to realise that making Wolves into a top 6 team will be better for him than walking into a top 6 job now. I think he'll stay as long as the project is on track.

Nuno is by far our biggest asset at the moment and I really worry where we turn and what happens when he leaves but there’s nothing we can do about that so I’m just enjoying the magnificent ride he’s taking us on

I suspect we ought to expect that fosun will be engaged in some contingency planning should the situation where offers are made for Nuno.
They're deadly serious about what they're doing. No-one, Nuno included will be bigger than the project, which is champions league football within 3 years.
Equally, I'd also suspect that if Nuno isn't up to their standards, they'll be quick enough to act.

I absolutely agree with this.

There are a lot of people ignoring or choosing to not listen to what Nuno says about Wolves and the project. It’s standard football fan stuff - there always needs to be something to worry about.

Nuno is going no where.

You're deluded if you think Nuno wouldn't go to a top 6 team. I think Nuno could easily work well with the squad at Utd and make them a success but I agree with others that Utd might not take him on. If we did beat Utd then I think Jose does get the boot and they go for Pochettino. If they land him then I can see Levy going for Nuno.

Johnny that's the chain that worries me too tbh. Don't think nuno quite has the calibre to be wanted by United, but spurs would definitely look at him after Poch's success since moving from Southampton.

I agree with the sentiment but you then have to look at the set up Nuno has been given by Wolves to succeed. Its as close to a blank canvas as he is ever going to get. Supported by Jorge Mendes, backed by Jeff Shi , with his entire staff around him and able to recruit pretty much exactly who he wanted to fit in the system he wanted to play. And he has executed it so far perfectly. He is not going to get that ANYWHERE in the world at the moment. He is also astute and intelligent. He can see the end game. If he goes to a top 6 club too early and they win nothing he is judged accordingly. He stays with us and we " do a burnley" or "do a Leicester" nor even " Do a wigan" and win the cup he achieves God status and "project Wolves" can then move to the next level complete with next level investment. There really is a wolves model now and I have a hunch that Nuno is very happy to be part of that. Long may that continue.

And you’re deluded if you think Nuno is the kind of character to just chuck everything that he has here away for a quick go at the top 6.

You said the same last season about Neves getting a move to a top 6 club, and hey presto - he’s still here and a huge part of our plans.

Tottenham are in a phase similar to Arsenal a few years ago. No money for players because they have a new stadium to pay for. I don't think Nuno would go there yet.

This year we may be a glorified shop window as newcomers to the premiership. Twas ever going to be thus. Those thinking that Neves will see out his 5 year contract may be disappointed unless we really do jackpot and start winning things and qualify for the champions league etc. Then he could stay and then we could attract similar world class players. Otherwise, someone will come knocking and will pay and he will go with my eternal gratitude for being the best player I have ever seen play in Old Gold. Again thats the way of it. The difference for me now is that I am fairly certain with our set up that the next Neves would be lined up and ready to go should the real Neves move. Remember Ronaldo binned off Man Utd for Real Madrid. It happens.

But given where we were and how we have started I am just going to accept that we are who we are at the moment and project wolves is moving forward. I cannot worry about great players or great managers moving on when the opportunity is right for them. I just believe that Nuno doesnt see the opportunity as right for him at the moment.

The task of winning the league with United is far easier, and would be far quicker, than the task of breaking into the top 4 with wolves. They're the richest club in the world in terms of turnover, so despite Fosun's riches and ambition, they'll be able to outspend us considerably for the next 5-10 years.
