Wolves 1-0 Burnley: The 1-0 massacre Verdict Thread

Really pleased to see Diogo playing so well, he looked more back to his old self. I thought Doherty was Excellent, never stopped running. I thought Costa worked hard but his end product wasn’t great, and Jimenez likewise, though he scored the hardest of his opportunities. Leo was poor. The back three and midfield two were fantastic, really awesome. Ryan Bennett just looks like he’s having a whale of a time!

Surprised no-one has mentioned Coady's passing today. On a few occasions he pinged absolute quality balls out wide to Doherty, or I think there was one straight over the top to Jota or Raul, I can't remember now, but Coady's long passes are getting as good as Neves'.

Jota was good in the 2nd half, but 1st half I thought he barely had any impact on the game. I thought he was going to get hooked instead of Costa, but he improved immeasurably after that. Though less said about his first-touch and pass to Jimenez the better.

If we had a World Class centre forward we'd be nailed on for 7th and who knows what else. I appreciate it's a pointless comment, but put Aguero up front today and we win by 4.

From what I saw a lot of the wasted chances weren't down to the quality of the centre forward. Seen a few comments knocking Bonatini but I thought he played well when he came on, his finishing was dirt though so that stands out although many others were just as guilty of the same today.

My thoughts too Mark

Now 4/6 max to finish in the top half. 'Best of the rest', then according to the bookies.

Missed all the game and coverage as was in bed with a migraine. Doherty currently having his own profile highlights and plaudits on Match of the Day. WHAT IS HAPPENING! Did I actually die earlier?

What he does well he did in spades - what he can't he didn't try & they made no comment

He did play very well indeed, but he's no superstar

What was that monologue at the beginning of our MOTD2 footage all about?

Birmingham judging from the "tara a bit at" the end of it. I've lived in Wolverhampton all my life and never heard anyone say this (or bostin) I blame Barry from Auf Widersehen Pet!

One of my uncles always says tara a bit at the end of a phone call and definitely heard bostin in the black country too.

Loads of people I know from Dudley and Wolves say bostin and tara a bit

Yeah similar the lad at my old work said both. It was quite a nice little piece despite the clichés mind. Lineker put out an extremely positive tweet about us too. Mentioned before but as a modern style 'coverage only' fan this sort of stuff is why I was desperate to be back in the Prem.

At some point I will fully accept what I am seeing with Wolves! Just staggers me to see us being talked about like we are. Joe Hart calling us the best newly promoted team he has ever played against was brilliant to hear last night

I struggle to accept what I see on the pitch, deflections, players shooting, passes inside defenders, a full back who can play on the left who is exclusively right footed, Ryan Bennett outshining both of the England centre backs he's played against.

I found the montage before the highlights slightly cringeworthy, if I'm honest - but each to their own - and I'm certainly not complaining about people finally sitting up and taking notice of us. I have to admit, I was a bit frustrated watching the highlights on MOTD2. The commentator took all of 30 seconds to drop the "Wolves have more Portugese players than the likes of Porto etc" line in - are we going to have to hear that every single game we play? And they even managed to make it look like Burnley were in the game by editing it in a certain way. I cracked up when the stats came up in the bottom corner when the interviews were on and it said "Wolves 30-7 Burnley".

I genuinely think we can give Utd a proper game next week. It'll be really interesting to see how that one pans out.

He completely spannered a cross. Other than that I have nothing. A good game for him

Loved every minute of yesterday's game - only 1-0, but it never really looked in doubt. Its so good to watch a midfield of Neves and Moutinho. Coady & Bennett both looked much better that England's James Tarkowski. Coady especially yesterday was superb, some great passes and great covering - the bit in the first half where he claimed the ball and cleared it was excellent.

Looking forward to having Cav back though, couple of times yesterday I thought him cutting in and getting one of his shots from the edge of the box in would have made a difference.
Very diffiicult to pick a MotM, Jonny looked good too, as did Doc and Jota looked to to be back to his best.

Enjoyed our ability to relax on a one goal lead and retain the balance between attack and defence without a glimmer of panic. A sure sign of a well drilled team full of confidence in themselves and each other
