Wolves 0-1 Arsenal: Verdict Thread

It did stand out to me that at full time, if there were boos, they were completely drowned out by cheers from the away support. At least on TV.
Stampede for the exits.

Obviously we could still be playing now and all that would be happening is Hwang dribbling the ball straight out of play, but, blowing the whistle precisely on the turn of 5 minutes? We’ve all watched the time wasting that takes up a good minute. It’s not complicated - add the required extra minute. Grrrrr.

Shout to JSL who was utter crap today - don’t play if you’re injured.

Seems to have done the classic “O’Hara” - great on loan, signs the permanent contract and turns into John Paskin.

Wasn't necessarily meant as a judgement. Same as the players, it's hard to give a shit about the state of the ship when there's a madman at the wheel who won't let go.

Moments of the match. Bellegarde tripping and stumbling in front of The Southbank, and Hwang knocking the ball in front of him that hard the ball travelled up the Stafford Road on the M54 and it's currently been found in Shrewsbury somewhere..
I’ve calmed down now so won’t make the mistake of misplaced hyperbole.

But Hwang and Bellegarde are the worst people I’ve ever seen trying to play football. Anywhere. Ever.

Don't think Hwang should be anywhere near our squad at present, but he held the ball up better than JSL and even had a shot on target, from little seeds, do giant trees grow :)

£27m on Guedes when he's nearly 26 is way worse.

Plus you know why he's here and Fabio isn't? Because Guedes is so bad that no-one even wants him on loan for about 20% of his wages.
It’s an irrelevant hill to die on. I get your point but it’s spitting hairs. Both are terrible signings

Understandably many on here do not like the Wolves related podcasts. The official one is often too partisan / crackers to be listenable. I can’t help myself with podcasts though as I like the format, and I’ve got to say the Matchday Live Extra podcast does sum yesterday up really well. In fact given their affiliation to the club it’s pretty damming.

Apart from the bit where they give Santi Bueno man of the match over Agbadou?!

That’s a bit like saying ‘apart from all the dead people Genghis Khan was a nice guy’

At the end of the first half after the red card Arsenal went very defensive and we looked ok but after half time they changed their approach and dominated even though down a man. We weren't able to take advantage of the extra man and it felt like we were happy to sit in and hope they tired but Gomes changed all that. When he went off we had 20 minutes left and we were behind in 4 and apart from RAN's chance never laid a finger on them thereafter. We just aren't very good.

Sa - one good save but he continues to dither on the ball unnecessarily. He strikes me as the kind of person who if he sees a sign saying "Do not touch, very hot" can't help himself and gets burnt and then does the same again every time.
Semedo - one great run early on but once Calafiori came on he got absolutely nothing out of him.
RAN - half-arsed efforts, clearly talented but little application.
CHs. Luckily most of their play went into Agbadou's area and he looked great.
Andre and Gomes - did ok but offer nothing going forwards. Stupid foul by Gomes cost us the chance of a point.
Sarabia - huffed and puffed. Difficult chance early on but thought he tried to hit it rather than redirect it.
JSL - difficult to judge as clearly carrying an injury well before he went off. Nevertheless he needs coaching in how to hold the ball up. On one occasion her did well to control it and then Saliba just took it from him as he just didn't shield it.
Cunha - moments of effort when the ball came to him but the moan at Hwang for his misplaced pass summed his performance up. Our one hope for survival seems rather disinterested which is pretty disastrous.
Subs. No impact whatsoever. Paying what we did for Guedes was madness but turning down over £20m for Hwang when we've seen how poor he is was even worse. JRB would look average in L1, got absolutely no qualities that come close to making a PL footballer.

VP - you need to change things, if you don't the defeats will keep coming. Mind you with Hwang, Bellegarde, Guedes, 2025 RAN, Bueno, Doyle and Doherty in or close to the team they probably will anyway.

The only thing of interest in next two weeks is whether we can bring in a couple of starters, and if we don't the next question will be how much will they drop the price of STs in the Championship?

I don't think he's disinterested at all. Trying to do too much, definitely. But he's not one of the players who doesn't look up for the scrap - that's unfair

Yep Cunha is bottom of the list of problems, he’s one of few not hiding, he’s a quality player playing with players not good enough and it shows up massively.

One for those who were at the game I think. It's the off the ball therefore out of shot moments which are telling. There was definitely a discrepancy on here on Monday night between those who were there and those who weren't. There's a lot on Twitter agreeing with Wilf, other than the Hwang moment there wasn't much negativity to see on the stream.

Distracted is probably fairer. I can imagine playing alongside Hwang would frustrate anyone but his reaction when it was his own misplaced pass was not the kind of thing you want to see in a team that needs to pull together.

He may be but if the problems are right through the squad you’ve got a huge problem. His body language exudes frustration and that’s never going to see him produce his best.
