The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

Beat MW2 last night, great game. Not normally something I play on console, but my bro happened to have it.

If anyone wants to play an FPS on steam I'm always available to shoot you in the face. ; )

I used to own a 360 but it died and I have never had the funds to replace.

I like PSN because it is free but I feel Xbox live attracts much more serious gamers.

Sorry Toon - I'm getting MW3.

Possibly as well as BF3. But I can't not get this.
Yeah I thought that looked quite decent too. Did you notice the little clip at the end said "points streak" not kill streak. Hopefully getting people to playas more of a team in objective games in multiplayer.

Yes - a MASSIVE plus for me, and it might encourage the twatty campers out of their cubby holes. I play on Domination 9 times out of 10 so such a system would really benefit me.

This new trailer gave me a semi!! :wank:

Incredible.

Oh and you can pre-order the Limited Edition for £36.85 from Shopto. They'll get it to you on release date too.

Is FIFA 12 out yet??? :icon_evil:

Who cares, the new PES looks awesome. :D

The next PES looks exactly the same as every current-gen version of PES despite the annual 'promises' of improvement.

I just cannot see PES ever catching up with FIFA now. It was so far ahead a few years back, now it's miles behind.

A real shame.

From the video's i've seen they've made massive changes to the AI, players always looking to make runs when you're on the ball, defenders actually working as a proper unit instead of just running around hap hazard, massive improvement on last years in my opinion.

FIFA just doesn't do it for me, last years game went really really slow, like they were trying to force you to play possession football, the players all seemed clunky and immobile making dribbling feel heavy and unresponsive, then you have the classic FIFA problem, you're rarely able to beat a man without using the right stick to do some sort of knock or trick, a change of pace or direction is rarely able to do the job on FIFA.

Ever since i was introduced to PES i've always thought it was the better footballing game, it feels so much more natural to me, but it always lacks polish so you have to put up with some annoyances to enjoy it, this years problems being poor keepers and AI. I wish someone would throw a massive amount of money at PES to bring the other areas of the game upto the standard of FIFA because i think the basics of the football have always been superior.

PES always used to be better, and used to feel like a proper simulation as opposed to an unrealistic arcade game. The gameplay was always the most important, and it was what kept me coming back year after year, even after 'Man Red v West Midlands Village' started becoming tiresome.

But now it can't even boast superior gameplay. FIFA is now the better, more skilful, more realistic and more addictive and that's before you even bring the presentation into it.

The only people I know who buy PES do so out of nostalgia, but 9 out of 10 of them also buy FIFA. And play EA's game far more often.

I let it go after PES 2009. It really hurt to do so, but we'd grown apart. FIFA is now better in every single possible aspect. Whereas PES was able to boast better gameplay, it's now like comparing Lionel Messi to Kevin Francis.

I don't like it being this way, but I've accepted it and have moved on.

<raises glass to PES circa 1992 - 2005>

I still disgree, i hate the gameplay on FIFA, no matter what i try and do i end up with lots of pointless boring sideways passing in midfield and every goal i score is almost identical, i rarely play more than 3 games of FIFA in a row. PES still has a better flow to it, you can break quickly, you can have a much greater variety to your play and its got the random factor that FIFA has never had, its looking more and more like an amateur attempt these days but i still feel i'm able to play much more enjoyable football on PES than FIFA.

That's because you're used to PES. It really isn't that different game play wise. Honestly.

I suppose leaving PES behind for FIFA is like quitting smoking. Difficult to do but if you get over your addiction, you'll be much better for it.

They're both shit nowadays. It peaked with PES6 and has gone downhill ever since.

I used to love International Superstar Soccer 2000 on the N64. You could play overhead through balls from the wings and bend them onto your strikers head. Super Soccer on the SNES was awesome as well - "shove off!!". Striker was pretty decent too, also on the SNES.

So angry. It's just video games, people.

I will play FIFA 12 and enjoy myself thoroughly. Others feeling differently has no bearings on my entertainment. :)

Also, Portal 2 is fantastic.
