The Transfer Thread 2017/18 - everything not Wolves

I only saw Odegaard a few times on Sky this season and whilst he looks good he is Costa-like and I think Costa is the better player.

Give him a couple of years and he should be mint, at 19 he's still got a lot to learn and his assists and goals tally should start to go up healthily, but its too soon in his career to rely on him in our first Premier League season. Lovely player to watch though.

I agree with that Booz and he'd fit our system perfectly as an inside forward.

He would, I always thought he'd become a 10 but his dribbling when cutting in from wide will cause massive problems as he matures. Can't see him making it at Madrid though as they're not that patient, if I was him I'd be looking at moving permanently.

Fabulous to watch he does have that Messi quality on the ball and a wonderful ability to see the pass.

Dawson back to Forest on a free. That will be good for him, I am sure, but he isn't the same player as the last time he was at the City Ground.

Sounds like Fredericks is leaving Fulham for West Ham despite promotion.

United going after Arnautovic is hilarious. Jose has completely lost the plot if he goes through with that and bins off Martial.

Jose is the opposite of the sort of manager Arny needs to play well.

It'll only end one way as well. Mental signing if it happens.

I struggle to think of a more incompatible combination than arny and Jose. Thought the rumour was satire when I first read it.

I'd have really liked us to go after Fredericks. There's something really exciting about singing young, highly rated English talent for me

He's already played for Jose. A whole three games in a half a season then binned off with Jose calling him a child.

Re: Fredericks - West Ham will be paying him crazy money on a Bosman, Fulham clearly got nowhere near. If we were interested (and I don't know if we were) then we may well have looked at it and thought he's not worth committing that kind of money on when he has zero PL experience - Doherty has played more PL games than him. Our FFP concerns while in the top flight are primarily centred around the wage bill so you want to avoid handing out huge contracts on pure gambles, which he probably is at this stage. West Ham just chuck money about without thinking about it as they're owned and run by morons. He isn't that young either, he's 26 in October. Also left Bristol City three weeks after joining them because he wanted to go back to London.

Clearly bad news for Fulham because they've now lost an established first teamer for nothing, and they already have plenty of work to do. Hard to see any of Bettinelli, Odoi, Ream, McDonald and Ayite/Kamara being good enough, and Targett and Mitrovic aren't their players.

That and the risk of losing Sessgenon and even Cairney too. They have plenty of work to do but they have a very good coach so that is a good start I suppose.

I'll be glad to see McDonald get another chance in the Premier League. He's a talented footballer and KJ fucked him around (even if his attitude was questionable at times too). Seems to have become a leader at Fulham too and their style suits him down to the ground. He may not be up to it but he definitely deserves his chance.

Well, Andrew Surman has made a PL career of sorts so I suppose anything is possible. However K-Mac is just way too slow, in body and mind.

Fulham have used him as their DM, it's fine in the Championship where they largely outplay teams, he doesn't have to do that much defensively as not many teams try to attack them and when there's a break he just fouls them to break up the play (he has an insane amount of yellow cards in the last two seasons). However that just isn't going to fly in the top flight, he'll get swamped and he doesn't have the skillset or mentality to do the job properly.

James Maddison on his way to Leicester for £22m.

Expensive, but I'd rather pay that for him than the same amount for Grealish.

Maddison is very good. I would have liked him here. Leicester is a good step for him though, as Spurs have been interested but he might not get the game time he woud need if he went there.

He's another who wouldn't fit into our team.

I think he's a better player than Grealish and that fee isn't too wide of the mark in the current market.
