The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

For the first time in god knows how long, having actual people visit and spend time in my house. Ridiculous that such a simple thing should bring so much joy.
Some German Pilsner on the old draft machine, snacks, even a tequila shot and best of all talking bollocks for hours. Glorious.

yeah, definitely this. Had my parents over yesterday, and it was wonderful. warm enough to sit in the garden and pleasantly chat. Cooked up a lasagne, and rather selfishly have to say my mental health last night felt phenomenally better than it had the rest of the week!

Don't think its selfish at all mate, would think it had a similar effect on the whole family

To be fair mate if you just needed someone old to talk to...................................

Something good in the post today. Took early retirement last November.....got a letter from HMRC today, they owe me over 600 quid. Makes me feel less guilty about the money I will spend at this weekends Classic Bike Show st Stafford.

receiving a text from the wife, who is on training all day 9-5, and I've written off the first half as will be picking her up, and the trainer is finishing at 4 as they also want to see the football. :D

Really happy about a few things coming together to make this weekend an awesome sporting one.

Off to Wimbledon ladies final on Saturday, up at 4.30am to get to Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester on Sunday, then dash back for the Euros final in the evening.

Apologies if that appears self-indulgent, but f*ck it, after the shite last 18 months things like that are such a fillip and just want to share it with anyone that appreciates the lift these things can give you.

The Wimbledon thing was just a once in a lifetime first-come-first-served moment of good fortune, the GFoS something my son and I have wanted to do together for a long time (cancelled last year), and the Euros, well, we all know about the excitement and long wait for that one.

Can’t believe that’s all come together condensed into one weekend, but I guess it shows through the drudgery you’ve got to keep going and that these unexpected things can happen. So happy these events are all at full capacity too, let’s hope we’ve all still got smiles on Monday!

The Festival of Speed is absolutely magnificent - one of the best days out you'll have. Just waking around the car park before going in is always superb.

Thanks, the car park should be interesting. The wife needs the motor on Sunday so will be heading down in my 10 year old 130,000 mile Renault Trafic van which is starting to get a bit knackered.

That said, the old girl will still be able to hold its head up high amongst the cosseted car park bling as it does get to wear this badge with a hard earned legitimate pride:

I could have got Wimbledon tickets for centre court today for £170. A mate is going and invited me, but I didn't really fancy it.

Stunning out this morning:

Coming to the end of our week in Dorset (was meant to be here this time last year). What a brilliant county Dorset is. Staying just outside of Bere Regis and visiting some great places like Lyme Regis, Corfe Castle, Weymouth and even popped down to Sandbanks to egg Harry Redknapps house only to discover he anticipated my visit and sold up and left the area.

Great place to bring the dogs as well, so many dog friendly places and loads of areas where they could run on the beach.

Only sad part was we booked this in 2019 and my FiL, Trevor, was meant to be here. When we book a week away we had to ensure a hospital was close by for his 3 dialysis treatments across the week so the trips were always worked around him. So a little reminder of man who is missed dearly.
