The Race to be Relegated with Wolves, 24/25 Thread

That's just speculation at this point, isn't it? We don't actually know why the spending has stopped or who stopped it (though you could certainly make a number of educated guesses).
Well we know that Chinese businesses have been told to stop large investment in overseas assets. Particularly football clubs. So Fosun won't invest any more money.

But Shi also seemingly won't rubber stamp any large scale spending in transfer windows unless we sell players.

So much makes no sense.

Won't sanction a decent spend in Jan restricting decent Managers

Seem to be hell bent on relegating us which will wipe £30 - £50m off our price

Yet say they are still invested in Wolverhampton Wanderers, nothing makes sense, being relegated will do nothing for the Brand
When we're relegated our value will plummet to what it was when Fosun bought us.

In 2016 we were a squad of poor players with negligible value playing in an aging stadium desperate for modernisation.

In 2024 after the exodus we'll be a squad of poor players of negligible value playing in an aging stadium desperate for modernisation.

We'll lose at least 50% off the value.

You know, I don't think I've actually seen a source for this. Didn't Chinese foreign investment hit an all-time high this year?

The CFA was forced to stop doping their domestic league, and the whole pyramid there has been a mess since COVID. But the foreign investment piece, I can't find.

Not trying to start an argument FWIW, just genuinely can't recall where that idea came from.

Fosun will leave us exactly where they found us and once there's nothing left to milk out of the club and fans, they'll write us off as a failed venture in the accounts and sell us for whatever they can get someone to pay.

But can we complain too much? Sure, it will be boom then massive bust with Fosun, but at least we got a little boom. Not likely to happen again for a while.

I wish he would cite his sources, and the omission of Evergrande from the Inter paragraph suggests he’s pushing his bias.

It’s another story that says that’s what is happening without actually backing it up. C’est la vie

If we don't have money because it's "sell to buy" and all the Kilman money we had for a budget was spent on a keeper we didn't need and another mid we didn't need than the people running the ship are even worse than originally thought. Last summer was no way to build a team.

It hasn't made any difference really. If we don't get a decent points haul out of the next three games then we are screwed. Forget anyone else.

Agreed. So, what do our great leaders do? Let GON who is completely and utterly gone, coach for at least the first game of the three. It's going to be a complete disaster against the noisy nonentities who got a free stadium and think they won the World Cup. As I noted elsewhere our senior leadership is completely shameless and useless.

It makes perfect sense if you understand Jeff Shi doesn't give a shit about the club and won't put in any money for transfers.
It dont at all, You cant sell a club for anywhere near what they will want for it, or what you would get for a PL club.

You wont get back in the premier league, without Investment, its goint to Wipe millions of their portfolio, in one foul Swipe.

It makes no sense, Unless Fosun really are under serious financial pressure, even then, They would have a better chance of recouping from the premier league.

I know a lot of people are clinging to the hope that Fosun would see relegation as a disaster but following on from people talking about the accountants posts yesterday, this post might show why they might not care as much as you'd think

They probably have enough big saleable assets plus the parachute money to mean, they could gamble on a couple of seasons of being a level lower, they've already made it clear they won't be spending big money in January to get us out of the shit this time

They’ve gambled that a few cheap signings would be enough to stave off relegation this season and if reports are true that little is available in January despite a surplus from the sale of Neto and Kilman they obviously are not that bothered about relegation.

What’s the club worth? Obviously anything is only worth what someone will pay but how much would Fosun sell for? £200 to 250m? A conservative estimate puts our readily saleable assets at close to the lower figure I’d imagine. Obviously we still owe money on many of them but parachute payments may well cover that if the wage bill is slashed by replacing them with cheap options.

It’s almost impossible to see us as a top half PL team in the foreseeable future. Thanks for the memories!

The more you look at it it only looks like Leicester will be the ones to claw back who’re outside the bottom 3, Everton could still be in trouble with upcoming fixtures.
Palace and West Ham will have more than enough to pull away.
I think some of our fans and board were hoping on Forest, Brentford and Fulham having tough seasons. Unfortunately they’ve all got proper head coaches.

Of the 17 Premier League ever presents in 2024 we're bottom of the pile.

P32 W7 D6 L19 Conceded 70 PTS 27

7 points adrift of West Ham in 16th who have conceded one more.

The most any of the rest have conceded is 50.

Stark.

May sound naive but today is the first time I've genuinely thought we're down.

With the weird situation with GON's position, the way the players are behaving, Fosun basically not arsed and us continuing to lose game after game regardless of the opposition quality, it's difficult to see a scenario where we stay up.

GON isn't turning anything round, and there's no realistic managerial saviour. Fuck.

Me too, as I said in the verdict thread we didn't play badly today and certainly the team structure and tactics were far from some if the debacle we've witnessed this season. So if I accept we played OK, against one of the poorer teams in the league then we are absolutely fucked. As we walked out of the ground, me and my lad looked at one another and both said at the same time "we're going down aren't we?" and there was no hint hyperbole or gallows humour.
