The Football News Thread 2017/18 - everything not Wolves

I thought I'd treat myself to some football so have watched the MLS highlights. My god the defending! Oh and Kai Kamara, the worst display of "finishing" I've ever seen :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

I wouldn't have thought Wenger was the type of manager Real would go for, his last few years at Arsenal were fucking awful. I reckon they'll go all out for Klopp.

They do odd things sometimes, Juande Ramos somehow got a spell there and Rafa was a batshit mental appointment given his recent record (he did very well last season with Newcastle, but he is no longer an elite manager and hasn't been for a long time).

I can see them going for Sarri.

Klopp doesn't strike me as a Real kind of guy, don't think he's got the sort of gravitas they'd expect.

Klopp is too blood-and-thunder for Madridistas. They'd be at each other's throats almost immediately.

I think that Klopp, if backed, would do well.

And the RAWK meltdown would be glorious.

In slightly more annoying news...

USWNT defender Jaelene Hinkle decided to turn down a callup last year because the US shirt was to include a LGBT Pride Month badge.

"I just felt so convicted in my spirit that it wasn't my job to wear this jersey," Hinkle said. "I gave myself three days to just seek and pray and determine what he was asking me to do in this situation... I knew in my spirit I was doing the right thing. I knew I was being obedient."

That'll endear her to fans...

The thing is, Liverpool are funding Klopp. Van Dijk, Keita and Fabinho will cost around £175m between them. Give him another centre half and a keeper, plus a bit of decent cover for the front three - they should be able to sell enough squad dross to part-fund all that - and they're looking like a very good team.

If he's happy there then there isn't a great deal of reason for him to leave.

So she hates gays then? That seems to be the message she's giving

AC Milan are apparently due to be kicked out of the Europa League next season for violating FFP.

On this day in 1990 England needed a late Steve Bull goal to salvage a 1-1 draw away to Tunisia in a friendly ahead of Italia 90.

Bloody hell - the Tunisian goal was rather good wasn't it? Awful fuck up by Gascoigne but the finish was sublime.

$#@! source, but:

Maybe Phony Tony has had enough (ie he planned on using the parachute money to get them back up, and once they were there reap the personal rewards of owning a PL club, only that hasn't worked out)

Makes sense, there's been rumours DrT doesn't actually have any money. Simon Jordan said he knew something but wasn't allowed to say anything. Dr T hasn't yet tweeted that it's not happening.

Consortium headed by former agent... Imagine after all their nitching about Mendes they're literally part owned by an agent :icon_lol:
