Relegation 24/25 Thread

Just to reiterate again (not that we don't know) that teams like Spurs and Utd are eminently beatable away from home unless you have small time mentality
The game on Boxing Day looks a massive relegation 6-pointer

Well it certainly makes the Palace game win or bust for GO.

Time for either Hobbs to get his book of English and cheap coaches out or Jeff to send that well hidden cheque book to Jorge again.
Apparently it's not a must win game and I'm sure it's all part of the plan.

We're run by complete cunts.

There’s only 3 sides that you’d write off as being really tough the rest are fair game for getting points.
As people have said the small club or woe me shit makes plucky efforts seem acceptable against decent sides.
This talk will look very stupid next Saturday when we’ve not won again.

The discussion is on the Brighton thread, but I'll put it here as it's probably more relevant.

It's been said that we have a chance of staying up because we have goals in us, which is a fair surface level comment, however in the 30 odd years of the PL the team scoring fewest has stayed up on a number of occasions, most recently Wolves 2 seasons ago.

When they have the solo  worst GA record they have gone down every single year without exception. On a couple of occasions where its joint one has stayed up.

As it stands we've conceded 25% more goals than anybody else.

And nothing to do with 3/4/5 at the back it's the manager and only the manager that is responsible as he can't organise a defence.

There are so many red flags in the statistics above and beyond the obvious lack of points over half a season and the dearth of clean sheets that it beggars belief that anyone still thinks GO should be our manager.

Standard football club nonsense at this point. Waiting to lose games so you can do what you should have done weeks ago.

Leicester, Everton and Palace all have a good chance of winning next weekend, in which case we’re definitively cut adrift.

But you can’t blame Gary, he’s doing his best. We can all laugh at the state West Ham have got themselves in though, mid table mediocrity. And what about Forest, halfwits don’t realise the trouble they’re running into with their raised expectations.

Once again makes a mockery of the hard fixture list argument. Get the fucker gone before it's too late.
No doubting we've underperformed in terms of results, but we've most definitely had the worst fixtures of any team so far. 8 of the current top 9.

While underperforming in terms of results is a pretty fundamental issue, we’ve also been completely disorganised and don’t offer any hope we’re about to go on a winning run. We’ve also won once in 19. Once. Against a terrible team. Just. Why does this bloke keep getting an easy ride?!

"Top 9" is a new one.

Brentford and Newcastle have very much mid-table returns, if we're writing off games against teams of that level then we aren't staying up.
Thing is, I don’t think @The Bear is saying top 9 as if it’s a mini league like the original top 6. That’s taking it out of context

Have we played 8 of the current top 9? Yes

Have we massively underperformed and points wise been unacceptable? Yes

Is he getting an easy ride? I haven’t been to a game this year, so can’t answer that from the match going fans. I’d say really from the majority on the forum. He’s being rightly criticised . Some more harshly than others,
But that’s the nature of the beast

If you’re going to be fair about it, yes we have been really disorganised, but we’ve also had games where we’ve been in them etc. we haven’t exactly been ‘whipping boys’ every game.

The best we can hope for is he has learned from the second half yesterday, sticks with 4-2-3-1 and only plays 2 DMs at any given time other than maybe against the top 3 or 4 teams.

I don’t have confidence in us having 90 minutes of what it was like 2nd half though. Think we will be ‘on the edge’ all season .

Could easily go 3-0 up and lose 4-3.
