Loan Watch 2018-2019

Agree with Mark there really. Bright has technical ability and he is skilled but he is a very, very raw talent. End product poor and he was always very frustrating to watch.

He's only 20 still so he could still kick on but a failed loan move in the SPL doesn't say much good. His future definitely doesn't lie here.
Not digging at you here White Wolf as your view matches mine, but Bright was only 17, then only 18, then only 19, now he's only 20. When will he stop being "only..."?

23/24 I'd say would be the cut off

What if they same glaring gaps in his game are still there at 21/22? Bright isn't going to make it at any higher level than League One at best. He's like the kid who used to go on Saturday Superstore ball juggling in the 80's (contemporary cultural reference [emoji16]), all the skill, but can't translate that into being a footballer

Players don't develop purely by training every day. They need to play in a team in proper competitive games.
They do, but I don't think anyone goes from incapable to master purely because they're getting an extra 90 minutes of a weekend. Those competitive minutes for me are more about maturing, learning to deal with pressure and adapting to new challenges. Vast majority can be developed much better on the training pitch, it's not even complicated stuff that he fails at, he just doesn't seem to understand that it's a team sport.

Bright can play with a football but he can't really play the game of football, he needs more than first team games to correct that.

Playing games is a big part of learning better decisions on the pitch in the heat of a game.

So you think he's only fucking up on match day because he can't handle the pressure through inexperience?

Aaron Collins is also back at Wolves from Colchester.

Another loan that went flat quite some time ago.

Not that he can't handle the pressure, but that he doesn't have the experience of making decisions at that level.

There's no need to be so argumentative for the sake of it. You know ow what I'm getting at.

It's the same decision whether it's at Compton or Molineux, the only difference is the pressure either from the crowd or because of what's at stake. Seems you're on the same page as me that you don't think Bright makes poor decisions because of the pressure or expectation so I don't see why it's that environment he needs to improve. He just needs to learn how to play football as part of a team if he's going to have any sort of career, whether that be at Compton, Molineux or, much more likely, some other much less impressive training ground.

Only comparison I could possibly make, and it's tentative at best, is being in a band and the difference between practicing in a rehearsal room and playing on stage infront of a crowd. It's hugely different and you only get used to the latter through doing it regularly, regardless of how much you practice.

That's the sort of analogy I'm going with but again in your instance I guess it's down to something akin to nerves or stage fright that would render an otherwise competent band or musician ineffective in front of a crowd. I don't see that being Bright's problem, I think it's deeper than that, so to follow your analogy he'd be like a technically proficient guitarist who can play pretty much anything he fancies but instead of playing along with whatever song the band is going with he just riffs away on his own, breaks into some mad solo that just leaves everyone aghast and wondering why the fuck they bother ever inviting this guy along as he just doesn't fit in with what they want him to do.

It's more you can be technically proficient as you like but until you deal with stage fright and nerves you have no idea whether you can deal with it.

Collins and Mason are back now (we said Mason was at Pompey until 1st March when we did the deal, but anyway, they've got rid of him).

Ben Goodliffe's loan at Dagenham has been extended until the end of the season. He's made 26 appearances and scored once so far this season.

Radio was saying that Ronan doesn't work in a 4 man midfield which Keates plays.

Don't sign him then. Managers, honestly.

Cheers Jolemai.

Interesting to see Ronan being mentioned; he’d be too good for that level, especially given its lack of physicality, but it could be a confidence boost.
