Loan Watch 2018-2019

Giles is excellent, he’s probably unfortunate that we bought Vinagre, or he’d have been pushing for that slot on the bench. (I’m a vinagre fan so don’t disagree with the decision).

I’d imagine we’ll look for the likes of Giles and Watt to get some loan time in January, they are real prospects. Most of our loanees so far it seems to me have been more about getting them away from the club.

I do feel a bit for Ronan. If he'd come through a year or two earlier, with the team how it was at that point, he could have made a real name for himself here. Never going to happen now, though.

Yep, I was thinking the same about Ronan, he looked more than ready for the Championship at one point. It's concerning that League One clubs are hesitating to use him but then maybe he's the type of player that needs a less agricultural league.

Miranda played the full game in the end and they were doing well against Higuaín and co up until the last 20 minutes when they just collapsed. Three quickfire goals conceded including one when our Roderick just seemed to let the ball roll past him; could have stuck a leg out, mate.

In other news, Dan McKenna has been sent back from Telford without so much as warming the bench.

Sad to say that not much happened this weekend for our loanees.

Christian Herc did, however, keep up his decent goalscoring record by netting again in a 3-1 win. It was nicely taken by him as well after clever run to receive a ball that put him through on goal. He's clearly a valuable member of that side who are pushing hard for top spot.

Goal on the 2 minute mark:

Rafa Mir returned to the Las Palmas starting line-up but did little more than pick up a booking before being subbed at half time.

German Phil also played his first 90 minutes for Hansa Rostock in a 1-0 win, while Gladon came on for the last minute of a 3-1 win.

Elswhere, Bright made a 10 minute cameo in another Killie win while Seedorf and Collins both came on in the dying moments of their teams' defeats.

Aaron Hayden was part of a thrilling comeback in a 3-2 win over Kiddy in the FA Cup. Two nil down early in the second half they put on a fine display to progress, although Hayden did give a penalty for the second and should have walked apparently.

Finally, every Wolves fan's favourite Spanish Liga Seguna B, Grupo IV team FC Jumilla started six Wolves youngsters once again Simpson, Leak, Hanne, Stevenson (subbed on 63m), Wilson and Ying (subbed on 77) were part of the team that battled to a 1-1 draw.

Unused subs: Batth, Graham, Ronan, Johnson, Mason, Ruddy,

Not in squad: Miranda, Zyro, Goodliffe (suspended), Deslandes (injured), Randall.

Excuse me sir but I think you'll find Paul Gladon came on the 90th minute to play a full part in Sint-Truidense's 3-1 win over Mouscron. I almost headed out to Penn Tandoori myself to celebrate in honour of the great man.

How is Ronan not getting starts there?

Disappointed to see Graham & Batth haven't broken in to those respective teams too.

Not that any of them are ever going to play for Wolves again.

Graham has played a few, he hasn't done anything.

Boro have a billion centre halves, I'm not surprised Batth isn't playing.

Jigsaw Mason missed a pen tonight.

If you want a one minute cameo that gets you out of your seat then he's your man :icon_lol:

Jigsaw Mason missed a pen tonight.
Also, Aaron Collins scored for Colchester.

Johnson and Ronan played for Walsall, questionable whether they would have been better off playing for us.

Donovan Wilson scored the winner for FC Jumilla yesterday in a 1-0 win. He started along with Simpson, Leak, Ying and Hanne, who was subbed for Stevenson on the hour.

Hayden got another full game for Stourbridge in a 2-1 win.

Unused subs: Mason, Collins, Ruddy.

Not in squad: Seedorf, Goodliffe (suspended), Deslandes (injured), Randall, Ofosu-Ayeh.

Sedge, as ever, much kudos for running this thread.
Cheers LJ!

An update for this week:

Rafa Mir- Las Palmas, Spanish Segunda División

Starting off with another goal for Rafa this week: this after a brace for the Spanish U21 side midweek, so he's in a bit of a purple patch at the minute. This one was the second in a 3-0 win, showing great technique to dig out a cracking header from a cross that was slightly behind him. A possibly fatigued Mir was then subbed just after the hour.

Goal on 18 seconds.

Roderick Miranda - Olympiakos, Greek Superleague.

The first 90 league minutes for Rodders in a long time (maybe his first for Olympiakos?) with his coach keeping up his unusual rotation pòlicy amongst his centre-halves. It didn't quite pay off yesterday with the entire defence caught ball-watching to concede the only goal of the game away at lowly OFI Crete. He also picked up a booking for his trouble.

Bright Enobakhare - Kilmarnock, Scottish Premier League

A big weekend for Bright, making his first start of the season with 90 minutes at St Mirren. Playing on the left wing, he was involved in the set-piece routine that led to the winning goal in a 2-1 win. Killie are upto 3rd in the table.

Christian Herc - FC DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda, Slovak Fortuna Liga

Another 90 minutes for Herc in a 3-2 win.

Ben Goodliffe - Dagenham and Redbridge, National League

A crazy game for his team at Boreham Wood in the FA Cup. Two nil down heading into the 91st minute, they won and converted a penalty before racing back up the field to grab an instant equaliser. Goodliffe played the full game.

Phil Ofosu-Ayeh - Hansa Rostock, German 3.Liga.

A full game in a 2-2 draw for German Phil.

FC Jumilla: Full games for Leak, Stevenson and Wilson i in a 0-0 draw while Randall and Hanne came on for the last half an hour.

Sub appearances: Connor Ronan came on for the last half hour in a 2-0 loss at Luton but could only blaze a 30 yard effort over the bar, Aaron Collins got quarter of an hour in a 1-0 win at Morecambe while Danny Batth finally got a triumphant last few minutes for Boro at his old club Sheff Wednesday.

Unusued subs: Graham, Mason, Johnson, Gladon (sorry Deutsch), Simpson, Ruddy.

Not in squad: Seedorf, Zyro, Hayden, Deslandes, Ying.

So what do we think about Mir? I wasn't able to see him last season for us but does he offer more to us at the moment than Léo?

Physically more like Raul. Technically looked poor though. Bonatini is always going to struggle because he is just so slow and not strong either. Rafa won’t make it here though and Leo will be chucked on the scrap heap when we sign someone in Jan

It's irrelevant unfortunately, we can't call him back anyway.

From this weekend:

Rafa Mir- Las Palmas, Spanish Segunda División

Another week, another goal for Rafa. This one a fine effort smacked in from the edge of the box to put his side a goal up and then later he was involved in the build-up to the second with a smart pass to set up the cross. His side ended up throwing away the lead to draw 2-2, however, and he was subbed just after the hour.

Goal at the start of the video.

Connor Ronan - Walsall, League One.

Handed a rare start at home to Wycombe and put in a brilliant display, according to reports, winning Man of the Match. Fizzed in a low cross that should have been converted early on before whipping in a wicked free-kick that was headed home to open the scoring. Stayed on for the full game that finished in a 3-2 win.

Bright Enobakhare - Kilmarnock, Scottish Premier League

Kept his place in the team for the 1-1 draw against Hamilton and started strongly, showing some nice touches. Stayed on for the 90 minutes but seemed to fade as the game went on.

Christian Herc - FC DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda, Slovak Fortuna Liga

A full game in a 2-1 defeat.

Ben Goodliffe - Dagenham and Redbridge, National League

Another 90 minutes in a 2-1 win at home to Harrogate. Missed a good chance to score off a corner.

Aaron Hayden - Stourbridge, Evo-Stik Premier League

A full game and a clean sheet in a 2-0 win at Kettering.

Phil Ofosu-Ayeh - Hansa Rostock, German 3.Liga.

Another start for Phil but was subbed on 70 minutes.

FC Jumilla - Wilson, Stevenson and Leak all played the full game in a 0-0 draw. Hanne started too but was subbed with 10 minutes to go for Randall. Wilson in particular appears to have become a key player for them.

Sub: Sherwin Seedorf came on for the last 10 minutes of a 4-0 defeat to Gillingham for his first appearance in a while.

Unused subs: Batth, Johnson, Mason, Collins, Miranda, Gladon, Zyro, Ruddy.

Not in squad: Graham, Deslandes (injured), Yang (international duty).
