Let's talk about Nuno....

I guess what i'm trying to say is, I think Adama can improve his form, he has been severely hampered by not having Doc and Raul, and obviously our poor overall form as team. I think there is more chance of Adama returning to form than us selling him and getting a new player in who is better.

Whilst Adama was really poor last night, i thought he showed more of an understanding with Hoever than he has so far with Semedo, Hoever got into some really good areas and Adama, remarkably found him. (only for Hoever to twat the ball into row QQ of the South Bank.)

I'm a fully paid member of the Doc fan club - Semedo is technically and athletically on another planet to Doc, but there's no doubt that that switch has hurt us, as Doc suited the way we played (and vice versa, clearly!), and so we've not got near replacing his output.

Traore, however, doesn't suit the way we play, or the way we want to play, and has no output. That's not hard to replace. I'd rather us play Theo wide right than Adama at the moment

Hold up, Raul played until November. It was still 0 goals and 0 assists then, it just looks worse now.

He's played 88 league games for us. He's scored in four of them.

For all the stick Fabio has been getting on other threads, and the defence of Adama, Fabio has more Premier League goals in 2020 and 2021 than Adama. Less time on the pitch too.

Agree with Del further up the thread, one purple patch for Adama in 2 and a half seasons here. He wasnt brilliant in the first season, had a great spell in the middle of last season, and has been poor this year.

I don't necessarily think our recruitment has been great. We might be able to get someone who plays nearly every game and has more than 0 goals and 0 assists though. Maybe.

You're conveniently ignoring (both in the quote here and your earlier comment regarding his scoring) that he had the joint 5th highest assists in the PL last season, only behind Liverpool and City players and Son. Why only focus on his assists this season? Which are 1 btw, not 0.

Semedo has been average at best this season but gets judged on potential and his past rather than the present, but that doesn't apply to Adama?

As much as you and DW want to make out he's a striker by harping on about goals, he's not, never has been and never will be. He's a winger really

Ok, I dont make out hes a striker. However, when hes playing in a front 3 I do expect more than 0 goals in a calendar year. Especially when he has no assists this season either.

You don't think someone who predominantly plays in a front three should score goals?

And even if we played 4-4-2 (we don't and never have while he's been here) I would expect more than 5 in two and a half years! Two of which came when he actually was playing up front.

You can all love/hate Traore as much as you like but he is integral to us getting results. Last season, was it 4 goals and 9 assists, games like Man City, Southampton, Tottenham and Bournemouth away, putting us in winning positions, together with Raul. With him missing and Traore not at the same level we're struggling to get results but saying he is not very good or rubbish doesn't dress up the fact we currently have little chance of winning many games without him.

An in form Adama yes, but that is rarely the case. He doesn't perform consistently enough.

I don't think you'd get a better player in terms of moments of brilliance, I think you would in terms of consistency and contributing to overall team cohesion though. One of the issues is his strengths don't suit that of the overall team, which is more a criticism of our style than him. He would have had assists if we had a forward who gambles/predicts 😉 on crosses into the box, but we don't so beating the man and fizzing the ball across the goal mouth isn't going to end in us scoring. You either play to his strengths or get someone that's more suited to the way we want to build up

In the game that Raul got injured he was integral to both goals, he has won a penalty and also put several chances on a plate for team mates that have been missed, he does officially have one assist, and whilst I totally agree he hasn't been good enough this repeated "HE HAS 0 ASSISTS" thing is disingenuous to say the least.

Yeah i agree with that, the lack of a striker that suits his play (which is continuing with Jose seemingly hiding whenever a cross comes in) the lack of a decent relationship with Semedo, and our general poor play have contributed to him looking worse than ever.

Also note that those lovely long balls from Coady to him just don't seem to happen anymore either.

Interestingly Adama has the second highest xA at the club.

However, we're 19th in the league for "big chances created".

Well he definitely has 0 league goals, that is a definitive fact.

That is fucking atrocious. He never even looks like scoring either.
