Let's talk about Nuno....

We still have no form of attacking play. Can’t use the Raul excuse either.

Use the rest of the season to prove you can do something other than counter/hoof to forward / pass to Neto and Traore and hope for the best.

I wish I was wrong, but it's when, not if, now. He won't be able to turn it around. I think he'll be backed in the Summer, and given until November - and he's earned that right, without a doubt - but unfortunately I think it's just delaying the inevitable.

I don't agree with if being inevitable, but do with the time frames. If the first 1/3 of next season is soporific crap, with no pattern of play and the sole tactic is to give it to one of your front 3 and hope they do something magic, whilst being passive everywhere else on the pitch then it's time to go.

I hope he turns it around, but there is so much wrong with the way we play. Today the Armstrong miss just before the goal was mind boggling. I think it was RAN and Kilman looking at each other then watching him wander in for what should have been a tap in. As a one off you'd say that's not on the manager it's on the players, but when it keeps happening...

Well Kilman just isn't good enough, he shouldn't be playing.

Pretty harsh when we have had at least 3-4 of our best 11 out at any point for the majority of the season in a already young and thin squad. If we make the right moves in the summer we will be fine.

Well that’s not true is it.

Marcal (I'd say our best LB if you disagree RAN has also been hurt for stretches)

All have been out with injury or Covid at some point this season.
Currently: Boly, Podence, Marcal, Raul, (Coady?)

How's it not true.

Not really, at no point since lockdown has he got a decent tune out of the players he's had available, barring less than a handful of spells. We, and he, are massively underperforming, and we all know where that particular buck stops.

You make it sound like we've had a fucking plane crash. Other than Raul and Jonny, players have missed a handful of games. And even at left back, there was only that one game Kilman played there that was a major problem, at all other times it's either been a full international (has Marcal been capped? I feel like he has but now I'm doubting myself) or one of the brightest prospects in Europe.

Regardless of who is missing - the players on the pitch have been better than than the sum of their parts, for the bulk of the last 30+ matches, and that's bad management.

Even with the injuries, he has enough creative players at his disposal to be able to produce goal scoring opportunities. For whatever reason, our attacking play is currently pretty much non existent.

I hope that once things are back to normal and the crowds are back that we’re a completely different team to watch but at this rate he’s not going to still be in charge come the end of 2021.

I’m still behind him but we can’t keep being this dull week after week.

We were already far behind the 8 ball with new signings in key positions and no preseason. When you have to mix and match available players constantly there's no opportunity to build an understanding which is certainly a visible part of what is happening on the pitch.

For the majority of our games this season we have had 3-4 players out that would improve the squad put out if they were available, that is true. Whether you think it makes a difference or not I'm not going to argue over.

Not a lot needs doing IMO but the next window is massive. 2-3 players needed to make us into a very strong side.

Semedo Boly NEW CB Jonny
Neves NEW MC

You make it sound is if it's only us who had injuries and miss the huge elephant in the room that our tactics have been turgid rubbish for a while.

The 0-0 against Chelsea was necessary but to play that way tonight in the second half is disgraceful stuff.

Nuno's done some weird shit and the players haven't been good enough so far, I'm still backing him to turn it round.
I hope so but he's nailed himself to the mast tonight and if we don't win on Sunday, given his team tonight, he'll be lucky to last the season.

I want him to turn it round.

Nuno has to take some of the blame for an unbalanced squad. With just one wide player injured, Pod, we have no decent wide alternatives to Neto and Traore. Having a run of games in a short period isn't a surprise, we've known it was coming for months and yet the only alternatives are Vitinha and MGW, neither of who'm are up to the task. To be in a situation where one injury leaves you relying on two players is poor, and resting them in a game that matters to most fans is not good enough.

At the same time Moutinho gets picked week in, week out despite being poor for a long time bar a great half against a depleted Arsenal side. If Vitinha isn't worth a run of games there, the question at the end of the season won't be should we sign Vitinha but will he want to sign.

If we don't start performing a lot better before the end of the season I'm not convinced he'll be here for the start of the next one.

What's also annoying is that we actually played pretty well in that leicester game. Should have won the game with the chances we had too. I'm worried tonight stops us building any momentum from that and obviously the win against arsenal

After the two home results in the league I thought we’d moved back in the right direction but tonight is a huge moon step backwards.
To many shambolic performances and head
scratching team selections keep occurring.
Reality has to come to mind here regardless of whether you believe Nuno can still be the man results eventually have to reflect that. Two significant things have happened in the last 4 weeks that have put a couple of nails in the coffin. Losing the BCD shouldn’t be a yard stick but losing it especially considering how poor they’re will upset huge chunks of fans. Tonight that team selection and inept display will virtually seem like throwing the towel in again fans get extremely angry about stuff like that.
It’s a blessing no fans are in there at the moment as the crowd would be turning.

I think i'm on the side now that he can't actually do it. I want him to but he's just not able to get a side playing on the front foot. There's still no attacking patterns of play, it doesn't make any sense.

What Del says. But I’ll play the game.

Boly - available for every game up to Burnley.
Jonny - injured LAST season and we signed 2 left backs to replace him. On that...
Marcal - you honestly can’t count him. You can’t sign the brazillian Tony Daley and then moan he’s not fit.
Coady - missed one game with Covid...
Semedo - pretty sure he’s been available for every game
Raul - yes a true loss. Was available for every game up until December.
Dendoncker - missed like 2 games.
Saiss - Covid and then unknown minor injury. Handful of games, isn’t even a nailed on starter.
Podence - unavailable for one game up until January.

Not sure how any of that explains why we’ve been dog shit since Spurs away.

So basically what we suggested in the last two windows but now it’s Coady replacement rather than back up as we move to 4231.

flog Adama to fund it?
