Let's talk about Nuno....

Not only those two; if you've been seeing the news coming out of Portugal and have family there, it must be awful. That's going to be a distraction for our players more than most.

Indeed. I didn't realise Nuno hadn't moved his family over here - must be on the cards once this is over with the new contract you would have thought.

On the subject of Liverpool: Robertson has come out today and said they're out the title race as all of the players are physically and mentally dead on their feet... the Euros is going to be fun this year!

I don't think anyone is denying we have been awful, just that outside factors have contributed to our awfulness.

I couldn't do what Nuno and Neves are doing and be thousands of miles from my family for example.
We've only been awful since the Arsenal away game.

Have we?

I seem to remember a dreadful performance away at West Ham and away at Leicester we were a bit shit as well.

We did have a couple of duff games but by and large we've been awful since Raul's injury.

Had we not had him injured I don't think we'd be having the discussions we are now.

We haven't really hit our stride all season (apart from the first game against Sheffield United where we were sublime).

You call it excuse, I call it fact.

Well, the length of pre-season is the only fact. The effect it has is your own opinion/conclusion/excuse.

I'm aware of the facts, I've heard them plenty. We've had more injuries than anyone else, Nuno is sadder and misses his family more than any other manager, we miss our fans more than any other team...

I prefer to believe that while some of those things are relevant, adopting a victim mentality and thinking we're exceptional in this compared to everyone else isn't helpful.

Many elements could have been overcome, and some are on our own heads (having a small squad, changing our playing style during this miniscule pre-season you mention, buying mainly kids during the summer, having no plan B without Raul etc etc). Gotta face up to that if we're going to learn from it

I don't think anybody is adopting a victim mentality, and of course Nuno and the squad will have learned from Raul's injury and this bad patch. But being rubbish without our star striker isn't something just specific to this team: Leicester are crap without Vardy, Spurs without Kane. I imagine if you took Fernandes out of United they'd struggle too..

Please don't take this the wrong way, but every single one of your posts gives the impression of a subcontext that you enjoy our failings and that you are getting pleasure from our predicament, I know you well enough to know that is not the case......I hope

Another day, another psychological spit roast from Paul and Johnny.

You're welcome to agree or disagree with any of my points, rather than constantly resorting to playing the shrink

Bring back dad joke Paul

I guarantee that Nuno's thinking will be leaning more towards realism, accountability and what everyone at Wolves could and can do better than dismissing it all as just a convergence of bad luck and circumstance beyond all control

Whether victim mentality is the correct phrase and I did use it myself at the weekend, imo Nuno has let his personal emotions and struggles affect the squad. There's been games, Albion second half being the real stand out where his body language was that of a man who was lost. I also think he's overplayed the lack of fans on occasion to the point where it's become a problem. Keeping saying something is shit, doesn't stop it from being so just unnecessarily reinforces it.

So, after tonight's showing do we think it's Nuno or the players or a bit of both?

Frankly, I just want this shit season to end.

Everyone wants this shitshow to end. Nigh on a year in and there is no end in sight. I'm not surprised that players are so inconsistent. If it was me i'd have said bollocks to it a while back.
As to your question both on this occasion. Nuno obviously didn't want the cup, and neither did the players.

Nuno's done some weird shit and the players haven't been good enough so far, I'm still backing him to turn it round.
