England World Cup Squad

HE STOOD ON HIS $#@!ING FOOT. It's a bloody foul.

After the Ba!l had gone and he was on the way down. Without var its a corner and no one complains. Now we have to think how to tactically use var. Its going to happen. A game with 4 or 5 penalties. This is not what technology was brought in to do. Its there to stop a shocker. There is umpires call in cricket. Nothing like that for this. I would be asking for everything. I repeat shit decision

Another way to look at it is that Chiesa was already falling when Tarkowski stood on his foot...

Ok mate :icon_lol:

No point in having a discussion with someone who’s made his mind up on a player before a balls been kicked.

Don't be a twat Jinks. I've given you a reason for why I think Young's had a shit game.

Don't make bloody contact then. It's a foul all day, intent is irrelevant.

thank fuck that shit is over back to real football now roll on friday

Penalty is a bit of an awkward one for me.

In isolation it's a definite foul from Tarkowski but given that there's obviously zero intent and the lad is losing the ball fairly to Lallana either way makes me feel like Tarkowski is rather unlucky.

Not sure which way I'd give it but there's enough there to see why the referee has given it I think.

Absolutely impossible to avoid contact with an opponent at all times during a game of football. It was a harsh decision & this is what we have to look forward to this summer.

VAR really is a bag of shit.

Anyway we should be ok vs Panama in the tournament. Thumped 6-0 by Switzerland tonight.

That's what I thought too. Harsh pen but I can seee why it was given. Thought the ref was very good tonight.

not trying to be a twat, if that guy is in the crowd of players when a corner comes over and someone steps on his foot nowhere near the ball, is that a penalty.

Spain 6-1 up vs Argentina

Fast becoming a non contact sport. Let's outlaw tackling completely. Really not what var was designed to do. Its a joke.

Its just like cricket with catches. Once its referred its always not out. Once var goes looking for a penalty it finds it , in slow motion, picking frame by frame.

I maintain its a harsh harsh penalty. Var is there to stop hand of god not penalise this. If we are penalising this routinely then we are in four some cricket scores and returns to coaches who want the ball in the box asap to maximise the chance of penalties by drawing the slightest contact.

VAR was designed for clear and obvious errors not ones where we debate. If it was clear and obvious how come not one Italy player appealed for the penalty.

It probably was a penalty.

From where tarkowski was any contact he makes with the forward is going to be a penalty.

Never a pen. If thats a fucking pen time to stop football fucking awful decision

I was once told if you go looking for trouble you'll find it. Var is looking for everything. It will find something wrong every time. If that's the system, smarten up and play it. Kick the ball at players arms to get handball decisions. If it gets referred, you get the penalty. If you see two players run straight at them. If they make contact, appeal, it gets referred you get the penalty. Seriously, we could end up with as many penalties as free kicks if we stick with the standard applied to this evenings penalty. It sucked.

Paddy i.know your not English and supportt Wales but FFS get a grip if it was wales even.i would say it was never a pen and i would stick pins in my eyes rather than see Wales win

have to say, and as a long time advocate of var, I think thanks a crap decision. but you can’t blame var given refs have been giving penalties to the likes of robben for years for falling over a rogue blade of grass. contact in this sport is unavoidable, the question is whether it should always constitute a foul and in this instance it looked to me like the guy’s lost control of the ball and going down anyway. inventing a technical ‘foul’ by virtue of an accidental coming together in a contact sport just seems ridiculous.
