So, I hear this. I do. But there have been 22,000 influenza deaths in the US alone this season.

I understand that the death rate is higher so far with COVID-19 and the infection spread supposedly easier, but when I hear 22,000 vs 97 (both in the US)... It's a struggle not to think that some of the measures being taken are an overreaction. Or, at least to not wonder why we weren't all freaking the fuck out well before COVID-19 was on the scene.

Literally the ONLY meat in there was Lamb Medallions, top end steaks or one particularly fine looking bone in Rib of Beef Roasting joint (it was a monster as well - would have b een great at Christmas).

There were a few bits of salmon in the fish counter, and those bizarre seafood sticks that look a bit like rhubarb. That was that there.

The freezers were bereft of occupants. Completely nothing.

No bread. Nothing, nada.

I suppose I could have bought a bag of sugar and eaten that.

For some bizarre reason there were a few tubes of pringles and some bags of peanuts.

NO fresh veg or salad items at all. Like literally none.

Beer - aisle was pretty damn empty. I grabbed some Carlsberg from the last tray. Wine - really empty apart from all the Italian wines which there seemed plenty of. Dear me - the country is fucked but those wines left Italy SOME TIME AGO YOU DAFT FUCKS.

In fairness, it doesn't feel like ANYBODY has any idea how bad or not this is.

The dearth of testing in the US (and Florida in particular, since I live here) is a frustration I have already shared. But the mere IDEA of this thing has completely bankrupted my parents and more than a few here. And we're talking about mobilizing the military to "impose order".

I'm not at all saying COVID-19 isn't to be taken seriously, but I'm really struggling here. Everyone with a slight cough is being eyed up like a secret serial killer. It's totally fucking bananas.

That’s the same everywhere. You only have to look at Italy to see how bad it can be; stopping people getting infected In a country where it will bankrupt you in health care fees alone probably focuses people more too.

Asda was devoid of all chicken this morning when I went in. Other meat was available, but I only really eat chicken. Popped in on the way home from work (2pm) on the off chance they'd had a delivery and there were a few solitary packs of fillets available. Obviously they'd had some in between 8 and 2 but it either it wasn't much or they'd already been snapped up.

They've not had any toilet roll in there since the beginning of last week,and the cases of beer have been sold out too.

I might pop to Roma Wines on Pendeford Avenue tomorrow. He's always good for selling me a whole tray of 24 at a decent discount. Super bloke as well. Support your local business if you are near me and buy beer and wine from Roma Wines.
