Coronavirus

Exactly my thoughts.

They're going to know where I've been for a couple of months until lockdown is over. Spoiler Alert - Nowhere.

Then I can just delete the app.

I don't know, but as it stands I don't directly give them any data other than my tax return (I know they could get it if they really wanted to).

Remember that the Tories wanted an effective register of anyone who views a porn site not so long ago. I'm not giving them any more than I have to, not with the people they have in charge.

Google has all my location and browsing data. Plus my name/address and a couple of saved payment cards.

They're not going to get more than my name/address and location so I don't see it being any worse than my phone browser. What can they realistically do with that limited information?

Ah but this info isn't going to Google (and unless you ask them to, they don't store information for any particular length of time, certainly not 20 years!).

I don't know what they could do, I'm not a shit Bond villain like Classic Dom.

True. I recently went into my Google data settings and deleted a lot of it. I guess you're not going to have that option with the government.

DuckDuckGo does all the stuff Google search wise, but doesn't save any info on searches,so you don't get the adverts for shoes following you about if you've just looked at shoes, might not be any good for everyone, just putting it out there

Would be ok for me on PC but so much on my Android phone is tied to Google that it would render it pointless.

Anyway I don't so much mind them having data. They might be tax dodging bastards and amoral in a few other ways but they don't directly starve and kill people unlike our Government.

That's what I've been using.

My house is full of data harvesting stuff....they must love me.

my Samsung TV apparently can listen to me. Alexa is a nosey old bint. My phone tracks my every step and my PC/Laptop tracks everything via Google etc. I have a Facebook account that is constantly full of adverts for things I have not looked for online but had actual conversations in my house about.

Boris has said he has been banned from making promises/timeframes. I presume that his boss Dom has instructed him on that
As per standard reversals of the last thing he said; he's about to give an update on Lockdown easing which will be hard to do without promises and time frames....

I certainly won't be uploading the app. If I am forced to, then my phone will stay at home.

Boris - everything is great, let’s start relaxing stuff (which means Cummings might not have broken the new rules)

Vallance - actually most of it is still bad.

I will be purely because of my job.

Otherwise... today’s announcements have finally convinced my ex-wife to let me see my son and it also means he can see my grandparents from 2m away

My view - if the App allows things to get a little bit closer to normal then I will download it. There are not getting access to stuff no one else has on me. Every bit of tech I have means I am watched and listened to and this won't change anything.

Totally agree Kenny.

I'm unlikely to download it anyway. Under normal circumstances I would but I am not trusting these Vote Leave maniacs and a woman who breached data protection for 4,000,000 people not so long ago with their track record, they want to keep any and all data for 20 years as well.

Not that I have anything to hide but I don't trust them in the slightest not to fuck up or use it for nefarious purposes.

I don't care. My life is not that interesting - even to MI5.

Not everyone though. If you go to work you are likely to spend time with someone for longer than 15 mins. Don't think the 2 metre rule is being used just being close to someone for 15 mins+ is enough

This. Where I work you are sometimes less than the 2m rule. Just like when you might cross someone’s path at the supermarket. If one person tests positive they could list everyone they work with and shut the business down for 14 days.

I'm happy for you James

Conspiracy theories aside there’s no reason to not install the app. If it makes me and my family that bit safer then I’ll install as soon as it’s live.
