Coronavirus

Id leave them in reserve until the police are knackered from truncheoning people in the face,it's not a popular vote winner I'll admit, but idiots don't listen until it affects them, and probably still won't,hence the truncheon to the face to get the point across

Army on the streets carrying out law enforcement I doubt that very much plus they’ll have zero knowledge of law enforcement themselves.
A visible presence yes but if someone refuses to adhere to the lockdown they’ll have little power to do much.

there is a growing campaign starting to allow people to visit open spaces cos theres enough room for million s of people to inhabit them and stay 2 metres apart, apparently

That of course is true but we know people just won't keep to the 2 metre rule, plus once you allow people to mass in open spaces it wouldn't be long before we'd be back to normal behaviour

Only allow them into the countryside with an elderly, vulnerable friend or relative, see if they're still so keen to go out then...

Wouldn't it just be easier in the long run to microchip these miscreants and employ people as volunteers to 'round them up' .There are power crazy folk who would simply excel at that role. Many who failed to get into the civil service perhaps.

Exactly. One of the stats that will grow in popularity is at 2 metres apart, theres enough greenspace in London for 35 million people to be in a park. Nothing about how they get ere, how they leave, the shops theyll hit on the way, the cars theyll use etc

Francois Balloux, professor of computational systems biology and the director of the University College London genetics institute, said:

“I personally, cannot see any viable alternative to ensuring immunity builds up in the population, through infection or vaccination. What is critical is to minimise hospital overload, to ensure mortality is kept as low as possible. There was a window of opportunity earlier in the Covid-19 pandemic, where it could have been controlled. We missed it, for various reasons, ranging from lack of preparedness to complacency. We should analyse our failings in the future, but now is not the time for blame.”

Local parks are still open here, and suddenly the trails are very popular. 2 Metres is impossible - you have to walk at the same pace as the person in front, and of course some people walk in the opposite direction.

Georgia (US not Russia) has reopened its beaches. 6 ft rule still in place. Of course the young rednecks will adhere to that.

Looking out the window big chunks of yesterday was just like a normal Saturday. Loads of people milling about, lots of cars, lots of people popping down the shops for an essential ice cream, packet of crisps and some beer. There was at least some attempts to keep social distancing, but it only takes a few to ignore it and the damage could be untold. The more people hear that countries recording their biggest numbers and extending their lockdowns have got this beat the worse it will get. No wonder the Police are concerned

Bugger.bad enough i am getting bored to death up my mountain, but i awoke this morning to find water in my kitchen, bathroom, dining room and main hallway, and cannot see where in the roof? it is coming from.
We have had over 80 hours continuous rain, and my roofs which have never leaked in 30 years appear to be protesting all at once.
As i said i have been up and down on the ladders and cannot see where the water is coming from, very mysterious, although as it is still pissing down there is not a lot i can do about it anyway.
Further downside is the rain simply limits movement even around my house. can't do the gardens, can't work on my outside work bench to make my lamps! it's all very frustrating and i think my rule of never drinking alone at home may go tits up by tonight.....cheers all ha ha ha

Surely that cannot be right! Even this bunch of useless fucknuts can't be that incompetent can they? Oh, yeah, it's Boris and his cronies, send in the fucking clowns...
FINALLY got an answer to this which i highlighted quite a while ago as being strange/

Status of COVID-19
As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious diseases (HCID) in the UK.

This meant it did not require top-of-the-line PPE for medical personnel.

This was updated yesterday(see below). Words fail me

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-infection-prevention-and-control/covid-19-personal-protective-equipment-ppe#section-10

If me highlighting this, in my opinion, near criminal course of action is seen as me having a Socialist agenda so be it.

Not so much as furthering your agenda, more your utter batshit conspiracy theories.

I'm fairly sure Paddy highlighted it earlier in the thread that this is to do with where treatment takes place not the distribution of PPE. It's a mechanism.

If Ferguson thinks that then he shouldn't say it. Fuckwits will hear it and take the precautions even less seriously.

Im skeptical of any predictions based on models at this point, id suggest the govt are too by increasing the testing. Predictive models are great but you cant beat real data

Fergie has moved to distance himself from this now, commenting to Andrew Marr that he was only one input into decision making and the Govt was also making decisions based on economics, seemingly at odds with 'we will be guided by the science'. Not sure if that's not just him trying to dodge a bullet or the initial quotes were released to back up the economic argument. Heading into a very tough 2 weeks I think we are going to see a lot of 'it was him not me' at some point

Kier Starmer said this morning that now is not the time for carping from the sidelines. He's right.
