Burnley 2-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Sorry, our attention was taken up supporting Leeds. Sometimes we wish you would :)

Easy cop out blaming Raul. He didn't blame Raul
Of course you're always going to miss a player like that, which is why spending your striker budget on 'let's not play him he isn't ready' Fabio was a risk that could well cost us. Why doesn't Fabio get the same unwavering support that Traore gets ?

Also, we had the most of the same issues even when Raul was playing this season, he himself was way below his usual standard You are correct (for once)
.

Can I just add I have never heard so much bias from commentators in my life they literally willed Burnley on, even before it was merited.

Think this is fair from Nuno

"“The game required dynamic movements and we were passing the ball and staying still, that is why it was difficult."

That was a huge issue in the 1st half. Got the ball outwide and then apart from Otasowie making a run (then being assaulated) no one else moved. When they did we got it wrong, best example was right at the end of the 1st half when Podence spotted Semedo in acres of space inside the area and over hit the pass. get that right and Semedo has 2 option, shoot or a simple ball to Neto who was unmarked 8 yards from goal.
I think Vitinha would have helped earlier there, but a midfield of him and Otasowie would be very young.

We’re being let down by our 3 established CMs, not really sure what the solution is.

First 10/15 there were signs of promise, quick balls to the feet (even from deep positions) of Neto/Podence with the WBs pushing on, but we didn't quite manage to work it well enough.

Once Romain switched off from Pope's clearance we absolutely shat the bed. That spell after HT was as bad as we've been for a long time.

We're currently the complete opposite of the team we've grown accustomed, no idea what we're doing formation wise and the XI is constantly changing. Felt for Otasowie tonight, showed exactly what he's about against Chelsea and was then given a hopeless task completely out of his comfort zone.

I see on the E&S site the 1 guy questioning whether nuno is the right man for the job..lol. Really? Come on now. We played shit tonight, but there are 11 players on the pitch too. And top quality ones. Surely they are able to adapt to situations during the game. I get the manager has a set plan, but like we saw tonight the plan needed changing. Fluidity is the key. We have the players. Remember where we were....

Just 1 guy? There loads on twitter and I’m sure a fair few on here who think the same. .

And the criticism here is aimed at the club and Nuno. Fabio didn't ask to be the only striker signing

On the E&S video yes. The other guy didn't say the same. I don't know about Twitter because it's full of dickheads revelling in a shitshow.

There’s always twats on Twitter, that’s the vast majority of tweets. It’s a social media for spoilt morons with no filters or sense.

Step one has to be signing a midfielder who can do what Nuno wants. Someone with physicality who can get forward and create and finish chances but works hard too.

won’t be cheap though, but someone like Renato Sanches would mean Nuno can play the style he wants.

I'd be surprised if it was that negative on here towards him. He's definitely not above being questioned though. I'm a Wolves fan first, Nuno fan second.

Leeds fan third.

Agreed. You always have to question decisions you can't understand. Nuno for sure is not infallable, but he's the best manager we've had here in a long while. Maybe it's because of the last 3 years that we are all frustrated with what's happening at the moment. As an aside i would like to see Vitinha in for a full game, but agree he's young and inexperienced. I think we are all going to have to be patient for this season (not easy i know). I can see the process that is trying to be implimented, but with young players in the main it's going to take time. I'm 100% it will work out in the end though.

When is enough games to wonder whether Semedo is actually going to be unable to be the upgrade we wanted on Doherty? He’s a liability on crosses, poor at tackling, has created little of note going forwards - he just looks like a weakling in any contact with the other team.
I know we’ve debated this a lot but, with every game that passes, the likelihood becomes less.

I agree with almost all that, I think we are being patient tbh, but also we're not vapid drones who won't react to what we're seeing, good or bad.

Can't agree about seeing the process that's trying to be implemented though, I don't quite get it

As i see it ( the process) is all about being adaptable for different set ups we face. And building for the future. Yep, it's not working yet, as per tonight and various games this season. Include being adaptable for the manager too, as i believe he is trying to learn on the job. Whatever you do as a job the comfort zone is do what you do best. Which is perfect when you have a different scenario every time you do your job. Nuno's job means he comes up against the same scenario twice against 19 teams in the division. Like Burnley you have to try and beat their exact same way of playing, without playing your same way. Same against the others. There's really only one team in the league who can do it against pretty much everyone, and they have been together and tweaking for a good while. We need some time, and this season is going to be a learning one. The hope is we don't struggle in the bottom half.
