Another US store (can't remember the name) said they were stopping selling automatic weapons as well - it's a start

Dicks Sporting Goods I think it is Parkin. Stopping selling ' assault-style rifles/weapons '

I'm working on making those opportunities, Bear. Norway is my top choice, then probably Canada as you suggest.

I looked into some stuff. unfortunately, just like america, no one else wants uneducated foreign labor, so I'm kinda hosed. :icon_lol:

tbf, that doesn't just apply to the US matey.

didn't realize Fox News was shown in the UK, or that you had gerrymandering, religious zealotry, student debt, medical bankruptcy, and gun/police violence. welcome to the cool kids club.

some of the social issues I mentioned are certainly more universal than just our border, but that doesn't mean it affects our political climate any less than others.

Canada is superb. I lived in Vancouver for a year and it was one of the best years of my life, great people, great lifestyle, great scenery.... it's like a Luxury version of America.

Fox News was shown in the UK,
Murdochs empire is here, via sky, the sun, and then we also have the mail and dacre. Our press is predomenantly right wing (imo of course)
or that you had gerrymandering,
good god yes, it's being argued about now, and cameron was desperate to push it through to retain tory dominance
religious zealotry,
of a different kind (more an anti muslim rhetoric) however the delightful DUP have May over a barrell currently, and an undue influence on policy, and they'll give your nut jobs a run for their money
student debt,
Yup
medical bankruptcy,
Ok, grant you this one. But we have a class system of antiquity
and gun/police violence.
we stick to our good old fashioned corruption.

Anyways, your post highlights how we have more in common, than we're different.

I actually didn't know you guys were going through the gerrymandering bullshit too. I guess it makes sense, it's an efficient way to guarantee political power, why wouldn't other places replicate it?? also didn't think you had a similar skyrocketing of school debt like here, ugh. why is this stuff so hard.

Re: Murdoch, I didn't think he was as pervasive as Fox is here. Is his influence that widely felt? I know he's obviously not some minor character, but didn't think he was the prevailing voice; he's even admitted his properties are struggling in the digital age.

I watch a lot of UK content but it's mostly left leaning so I might be in a bubble of my own creation. Not being there obviously gives me some blind spots, it's hard enough keeping up with the stuff over here.

If you're willing to live in an antarctic hellscape, which no sane person should want to do.

But yes vancouver in July is wonderful.

Murdoch started building his empire here. With the support of thatcher (spits) in the 80's he broke the journalistic industry and unions, moved production of most newspapers to wapping, and gradually bought up most newspapers and various tv channels.
In gratitude to the politicians who allowed him to do what he wanted, he heavily credits their bile. When it suits him of course.

Pretty sure that Murdoch only does anything when it suits him - every one else are just 'little people' who don't matter.

Florida is the true hellscape. March 1st and it's pushing 85F. Fucking unbearable.

I will never, ever...

defend florida.

:icon_lol:
