we will provide all the teachers with lime green hats to indicate that they are good guys.

anyone not dressed appropriately when police enter gets shot in the face.

the other teachers will shoot them!! maybe we could have some senior students as armed backups, like they get elected into the student council and carry during school hours in case of staff rebellion.

That works till the perpetrator realises that & comes in wearing a lime green hat

simple, we just have to control the sale and tracking of the hats. make sure people have a valid teachers license before letting them purchase the hat, ensure they were properly educated in hat discretion, make sure we recover hats from those who no longer meet the requirements, and impose stiff penalties on people who go outside of the regulation, like any parents of kids who steal their hat to get away with a school shooting.

About as foolproof as the USA current gun laws then

No, those are far looser, as they should be. Hats aren't a guaranteed right in the constitution.

we wouldn't have this problem if prayer was allowed back in school.

yes if teachers were armed it would be a deterrent to any potential future shooters. attackers would be outnumbered and outgunned when exchanging fire in the school.

just needs proper funding, training, and political willpower to make the decision happen!

You sir are a master of black humour and I applaud you! (Please tell me that was you showing us some magnificent American irony/black humour) :icon_lol:

Oh yeah and what about the lime hat lobby? They'll be the ones lobbying for a lime hat free zone but still advocating that anybody should be allowed to buy a lime green hat and in fact with more people wearing lime green hats there would be less lime green hat violence.

Y'all are missing a trick here. Fuck arming the teachers. Arm the students!
No shooter would make it...

hey hey hey slow down... my shtick doesn't work as well if everyone else joins in! :argh:

Local news reporting of an 'incident' and shots fired at a local high school in the county over...
Getting a little close for comfort. Will be discussing our future in the states after I finish work today

Not sure why you'd want to stay here if you had the option to leave, honestly.

As an outsider looking in,what's gone wrong? Weekly mass shootings, job security, trump,or just a general feeling of like we have in the UK the country is screwed,or a bit of all that?

Free and easy access to lethal weapons might have something to do with it...

Yea that's got something to do with it,just wondered if there were other reasons, but personal safety does rank quite high

It's a combination of hundreds of factors, but Paddy isn't wrong that the access to weaponry here allows the symptoms of those factors to manifest so violently.

That hasn't been any different for years though.

I loved America when living there, but that's neatly 20 years ago now. It seems a much angrier place now but that's from the outside looking in and it's very different to that. Even being back for visits it seems as though the whole place is a bit more on edge.

I never met one person like Alan though.

I assume that's why you loved it! :shakehand:

I genuinely didn't meet anybody with your more leftist tendencies.

The weather, transportation systems, leisure facilities, work habits and enthusiasm for sports really excited me and I think there's some really great places to go. I understand the problems and did see the seedy side only once and that was more than enough.

It was great fun in general. The last few times I've been in America the whole place seems expensive without the fun. A bit like Norway.

And that's a shame for me as I think there's so much America has to be proud of.
