Wolves v Stoke: Carabao Cup Rd 2

Not a bad performance, just one or two passes off getting in. Work rate ok just a tad unlucky me thinks.

Just didn’t work tonight very little creativity having said that Stoke had no right winning that game. Do I give a shit absolutely not won anything in 40 years a club like ours doesn’t earn the right to pick and choose what competition we do well in. I think Nuno will be mega pissed off with what he’s seen tonight.

I can't pretend to care too much about the League Cup. Glorified pre-season for me, and more playing time for the new lads.

Poor in isolation but sometimes it just doesn't click in games like this. Hope to God Ruddy does better if we ever need to rely on him in the PL though!

I must have watched a different game

One shot on target against championship opposition is appalling from the strength of that team. You cannot dress it up. That was a shit show

Are we concerned that we have lost (are losing) 1-0 to a second string Stoke City side with more or less every one of our first team players featuring at some point? Or do we use the standard excuses when we lose in a competition like this to a lower league side?
Not in the slightest.

No, we used it to get minutes in to players legs, simple as that. Would they have liked to have won of course they would but it's a nonsense competition anyway unless you're Man City who can chop and change as they like. It was actually good to see Fabio and Vitinha and they definitely looked like they will add something, we desperately need a rwb and for me still need a lwb as Vinagre just hasn't progressed enough on the ball. Oh and Rui has to stay fit. Nothing to worry about here.

The guy can’t cross, doesn’t beat a man and offers no incisiveness on the ball inside. Never uses his pace to any effect either.

I can only think people see the shit step overs and assume he must be good going forward. Baffles me.

We are top quality WBs away from knocking on the top 4 door for me.

Shit result, sounds like a shit performance too so I didn’t miss much? Key talking points seem to be Silva miss and Ruddy fuck up

Concerned? No - when I saw the team (which I didn’t get to see til half time) I assumed it was to allow some players more minutes having had no pre season games.

But obviously we are in crisis and Jota has fallen out with Nuno :D

I agree with all of this. LWB and RWB are a must now and Traore is killing us right now, he's first season Adama.

I think Adama needs to lose that pencil moustache. Its just not working for him.

By the way, I'm not concerned. But it's funny how suddenly people don't "care" because it's a "shit competition" as soon as we've lost. The long and short of it is, with the side we put out, against a second string Stoke City side, we should have taken them to the cleaners.

I actually thought Fabio looked quite average this evening - very raw. But it's his first appearance and he still has a lot to learn so time and patience is required there. Vitinho was positive - looked to get the ball forward and has a nice touch. The rest of them were all pretty poor - particularly Vinagre again. How many opportunities does he want?

It's all very well getting minutes in to the players legs, but that's one competition you can cross off the list now. So a few of these lads won't be playing again until the first FA cup match. If they're happy with that, fair enough. Like I say, I'm not "concerned" - we'll go and give City a good game next week - but get above 1st gear this evening and we win that match. One shot on target wasn't it? Jesus. I'm not sure Nuno will even try and defend that.

Very poor second half. We didn't do enough, rubbish goal to concede (two years in a row where Ruddy has let something in to knock us out that he should have easily saved), Fabio had enough chances and didn't take any of them (he looks good though).

Genuinely not arsed though. If Vitinha and Fabio weren't playing I wouldn't have paid to watch it, this shit competition is a relic and needs to go in the bin. Not hindsight either, I openly said I didn't care.

Saves me a tenner next week and not having to listen to a cretin on the mic like that again.

Other than nominally for the last 20 Adama didn’t play RWB (and even then he wasn’t there). He was also our most dangerous player - tried to do too much by himself at times perhaps.

But Dan I really wanted a crack at the new Europa Conference Midland Premier League next season.

It's the same with most football fans isn't it. Same with Doc and his stats but he's nowhere near as good as most fans think. It's similar to the reaction to losing tonight when we haven't really given it a go, forget who has played and actually look at the game. Important players have got good minutes in the bank and we'll be ready for City in a game that actually matters. Of course they would have liked to have won like i mentioned but in reality it's less games in a season where we could do with less games and we can give the league and the FA cup a really good go.

Can't lie. I haven't got much 'tether' left when it comes to Vinagre. He still shows how good he can potentially be in flashes or one off games (Liverpool away/Olympiacos/Sevilla) but he's still an absolute mile away from being able to deliver the kind of performances we need from him on a consistent basis.

I will never actively 'get on his back' but it's fast approaching the stage where it might be best for both club and player if he moves on.

Not any kind of knee jerk reaction based on tonight's performance btw, been thinking this for a while.

People on here or in general? Just going back from your initial "are we concerned" post only two people mentioned the competition itself, one said he couldn't really pretend to care about it and the other was not happy at all about being knocked out. That's up to the post I'm quoting.

Nuno: "Jota and Max (Kilman) were not available for this game."

I'm sure you can guess what the replies are.

That's neither fair or true. There's plenty of people who've said they have no interest in a second rate competition, that the loss of a Euorpa League place has only heightened. There's also plenty who have said it's a trophy, Wembley, 40 yrs etc.
