Wolves are for sale and Darlo wants some smooth thighs

Granting a full bill of health tp both sides, Bournemouth would kill us right now.

That's not really the point though, wolves are a much better supported club and historically 'bigger'. Not so much now though.

Bournemouth is where you retire!

Not me...

Nor me - though I did get a bit nearer than you Frank.

As to the sale discussion, getting back to the Premier & progressing isn't just about money, it's more good judgment & a bit of luck (though some cash can help).
No objection to someone coming in who is seriously loaded though we shouldn't expect that if he did that massive amounts would be injected into the club anyway.

Rich people are rich for a reason, they keep hold of more of the cash they generate than they spend

When reflecting on Morgan's tenure at the helm of the club, the overriding feeling I have is one of missed opportunity. For varying reasons, some Morgan's fault, some not, we failed to cement a place in the Premier when the hard task of surviving the first season was successfully navigated.
That in itself must seriously piss Morgan off, because he is a man who is not used to failure.

I get this attitude, but for me it feels like we're only just coming to a point where we can start to assess Morgan's real work (or his legacy, now, if you will). Switching to focus on developing our own players is something that we can only truly call a success or not several years down the line - our year in League One accelerated the promotion of a bunch of younger players who wouldn't have got first team experience to soon otherwise, but we're now regularly putting out XIs with half the players or more having come through our youth system in some form or another.

This season looks to be a write-off but I really don't think that time will tell that the investments in infrastructure were mistaken, and that that money would have been better spent on, say, a few extra thousand a week for a couple of players we didn't manage to sign while in the PL. The correlation between revenue and league position in English football is extraordinarily strong, and Wolves' natural position is mid- to -high-table in the Championship. Besting that requires either fluke (like a talented manager), or long-term planning that makes better use of money than almost every other team. I do think that over the next five years we're going to see a regular conveyor belt of young players coming into the first XI where we would otherwise have had to buy them from elsewhere, and that in turn will free up funds to spend on better strengthening the squad in the remaining positions. It takes time to do it right and needs everyone in the system to do their job correctly (so casting some sceptical glances at you, Mr Thelwell), but the foundation Morgan's leaving Wolves with is sound, if not exactly glamorous.

I thought we were past all that 'wimabigclub' nonsense.

Seriously, what gives us a divine right to be in the top tier? I've followed the Wolves for a quarter of a century and in that time we've achieved only slightly more than, say, a club like Bournemouth.
I agree in the last 30 years we've spent more years in Div 3 and 4 than we have the Top Division

We have twenty thousand supporters on abad day at home, Bournemouth 12000 on a good day, one of the highest turnovers and fan bases in the championship and nearly made the play offs. Do you really believe that we should not be one of the top 20 teams given our base, history support and potential? We are a big club. We should punch our weight in the top league. We have grown used to second tier mediocrity. Hopefully a new owner will find that as unacceptable as I do. I have 43 years of supporting behind means I always want us to be at the top table not happy with mid table championship scraps. Time for big re think in our ambitions if we get the right owner and if so I think all you nay sayerswill enjoy the next 20 years of football a bloody sight more than the last. Remember its only 2years since we were knocked out of all cups including the Johnstone paint on our own pitch. Nah sorry guys we are a hell of a lot better than that in terms of ambition's

I thought we went out of the League Cup away at Morecambe in 13/14, televised IIRC.

Bournemouth's first ever promotion to the old second division was 1987. To compare Bournemouth with Wolves is ridiculous.
Someone ought to ring their chairman and let him know that having a better team than us isn't allowed.

Someone ought to point out tour owner how teams such as Bournemouth have overtaken us in 5 or so years. You should be asking how and why are Bournemouth better than us and what can we learn to catchup

I'm not NOT asking those questions. I'm pointing out that history has fuck all to do with our performance last year, this year, or next year.

No strategy dictates that and in the last five years theirs has worked fuck sight better then ours.

Alan mate, it is new year's eve. If Wolves history doesn't mean anything to you, that is your choice. I could put a list of all the historical records we have achieved, but I am sure you will know them. It doesn't matter what league we are in, we are still Wolverhampton Wanderers Football club.
I can only see 6 to 7 matches a year because of logistics. When I go to Molineux or to an away match and the players march out wearing those Old Gold shirts, I still get shivers going down my spine. It is history, it is a feeling you can't explain. When I leave my local not too far from Molineux stadium, on a night match. I walk up alley ways, walking with hundreds of people , towards the floodlights. I still imagine the old floodlights outside the South Bank. The old night matches with over 50,000 people. I still hear the crowd singing John Richards, Willie Carr on the Wing
. I can hear the old North Bank singing Those were the days. I can remember many running battles outside the ground. I can remember spending all my paperboy money to follow Wolves all over the country. Nobody can tell you Wolves are a big club. If you don't think they are, I can understand that. Nobody can make you feel something. I know Wolves are a big club, shit team yes, but still a big club. It doesn't matter what league we are in, that won't change in my life time.
