Wolves are for sale and Darlo wants some smooth thighs

Why announce that the club is up for sale if it is already close to being sold? Why have the article in last week B&S about Wolverhampton being in his heart and he feels like an adopted son?

I'd hazard a guess that after the altercation at Preston on Saturday he feels that the fans no longer want him and he's decided to sell up.

He can still have Wolverhampton close to his heart without being involved with the football club.

Nice back page...

So, Morgan has really only stood down to get out of the firing line?

Possibly, it will certainly take him away from further flak when the fans are looking for higher investment with players. He can sit on the sidelines and bide his time knowing his terms of sale are unlikely to be met.

Until a deal is done. The fact he has resigned his board position is for me (at least) a cast iron indicator that he is never coming back. A new owner will be found but until then the whole shebang is in Moxey's lap effectively.

The more I think about the more I think a Moxey led consortium will eventually take over.

E&S have been instrumental in stirring up shit and now it has come home to roost as well. I don't think this is knee-jerk at all. I feel it has been going on for months, and the final choice of timing is purely because something else (hopefully a buyer) is as good as sorted.

It is a possibility. He doesn't have anything like the net worth obviously, but if he finds big backers and one of them steps in as Chairman with Moxey retaining CEO status then it could happen. Fuck me Molmix would go nuclear if it turned out that way.

If Wolves were flying high in the Championship and looking good for promotion would Steve Morgan have thrown the towell in, unlikely.

Why oh dear? It has more than a kernel of possibility. Moxey knows the club better than most. Can front the consortium with shadow backers behind, one of whom steps in as Chairman, and on we go. Certainly not a wind-up of an idea, although the level of unpopularity within the fanbase would be rather massive.

The way the club has been run, it doesn't need a wealthy individual to own it, they just need to find the capital for the initial purchase. Depending how close Morgan and Moxey have got it's quite possible that Morgan could do some sort of stage payment agreement with him.

The evidence suggests that rather than being an adopted son, the city looks on at him as the bastard child with 60% being glad that he's going.

Yes - that could definitely be done. However the level of unpopularity would be EVEN higher then, and it doesn't get round the problem of Moxey having combined Chairman / CEO status long term. I know he combined the roles when Jonathan Hayward went, but that was for about a year and SJH was still in the background. There is no way that Moxey would be left in absolute power. A Chairman, and more than a token gesture would HAVE to be appointed. An all Moxey ego-trip would see supporters quit in their droves, one would suspect.

That is why I don't think it will happen. Why would you want to buy a club where you are already massively unpopular? It would be like the George Osborne buying SSI Redcar

What would be the gain to counter-balance that unpopularity? Without promotion, frankly not a lot.

Indeed, why would Moxey buy the club (effectively that's how the fans would see it) and have no gain at all other than owning a small part of a football club. Just for ego? Jez is a lot of things but stupid isn't one of them and that would be stupid.

Not from me, more in line with your Molmix referrence.

Or maybe extend his job for another 10 years. A lot of things can be said about Jez, but one thing is for sure is that he has a lot of passion for Wolves and does love the club.
