Wolves 3-0 Leicester: Verdict Thread

I mean, I just can’t agree.

I’m not arguing that he shouldn’t have come out in the first place, but he’s not in control of himself by the time Vardy takes the touch around. I certainly don’t think Vardy has crossed the line into cheating, not even close IMV.

Regardless, fair to say this is an “agree to disagree” at this point. 🙂
He has to come out, he's unlucky that Vardy has cheated to win the penalty.

There have been other incidents where he has come out like a train and been an idiot. This wasn't one of them for me.

I don't think Rui Patricio at his peak puts himself in that position

Does Sa's willingness to come out in that situation save us more goals than it costs us penalties every single year, I would say probably not

Not having a go. Just seems an odd turn of the lense.

I get it, we’re cynics by nature. 😉
Was just wondering how different things could have been, and they still wouldn't have actually been that bad with 3 out of 18 points. Which is incredible really.

Rui wouldn't have been as fast off his line, no chance. He was wedded to his line quite often, I think with Rui in goal Vardy scores there to he honest, or at least gets a shot off.

I agree you are wrong is my stance😀

I argue from a view point of being in the same position as Sa multiple times (mainly getting it wrong I will admit and whilst playing in a shitty pub league)
Ah, and there’s your fatal flaw; you’ve overlooked the fact that by never having played competitive football I clearly have the more unbiased perspective. 😉

I agree it's a trend with Sa but it's not relevant to this.

There should be no grey area with this one. It was never a penalty, and if the referee had done his job and booked Vardy for diving, it wouldn't be a discussion. It's not like he even gave them a decision to make - he got kicked.

It feels very unfair to criticise Sa when he literally did nothing wrong.

I think Rui replicates yesterday.

Rui has an upper hand in other situations as his positioning was amazing but yesterday he would be out and on Vardy at the same point.

Rui wouldn't do many things Sa does though. A lot more cautious and not has hot headed in his decision making.

I’m completely spun by the “cheat” language. The contact is absolutely undeniable. PKs have been and are regularly given for far less.

If a fucking shirt tug followed by flopping like a dead fish is a pen… Actually, don’t get me started on how weak I find shirt pulling as a foul.

Agree. If Patricio was in goal then he's staying back on his line and Vardy let's it run through to probably shoot first time, then it's whether Rui could react quick enough to save a point blank shot. Sa gets out well and forces Vardy into taking that touch with his weaker foot otherwise there's no space to shoot, he gets his foot planted to stop himself clattering into the attacker but then gets cheated.

It's quality keeping in that situation, he was very good off his line in his first year from memory but maybe the difference in style from Patricio made it more apparent. Think a lot of the time back then he was coming much further to sweep up with his feet though whereas as most of his errors have been coming out shorter distances and throwing his body in with reckless abandon. Yesterday was not one of those times though.

No-one is denying contact, the argument is who caused it.

I did like this from JSL :D

As @Lycan said to me yesterday, he's now matched Raul's first PL season, all with no pens, four games to go, we were authentically rubbish for nearly half a season, and he missed around a month with injury too

He seems like a really likeable guy who is enjoying his football. Rare to see a footballer taking the piss out of himself too.

13 goals by JSL in your first PL season and still 4 to play. Averages a goal at just 1 every 2 games.
