Wolves 2-4 Leeds: Verdict Thread

Surprised that we’re still at around 4-1 to go down - feels shorter than that.

Lots of dogs in the race I guess.

I’m genuinely concerned that we aren’t creating a siege mentality with the complaints but rather are making the officials less inclined to side with us.

To quote one of the great crime writers of all time it’s “pull wor socks up and go again”

Yeah, what initially was an attempt to create that has just turned into us (the management and players) just whinging a lot.

Hopefully Julen reassesses this and calms everything down. When he first came in there was plenty of calm and confidence about our ability to get out of this, need to get back to that

The time wasting in the premier league is making games near impossible to enjoy, no ref ever has control over it. I reckon Meslier must have wasted at least 7-8 minutes on his own today and got booked after 100 minutes.
Exactly this. And it’s more frustrating that they get away with it.

Raul didn’t exactly help matters though by continuing to think it’s a good idea to stand a foot away from a goal keeper when trying to kick the ball out.

Thinks do need to change though. Yes, we can argue we’d be rock bottom if Lage was still here. But we’ve got players who look like they’re running down their time here and others that I wish they was out the door immediately.

A big end of season run is ahead of us. Forest is going to be tough. They’ll have the backing of the home ground who manage to generate a fantastic atmosphere without the need of a few flag wavers.

Been coming to Wolves since the 70s one of my favorite away grounds. About 8 teams in the relegation mix, all teams at bottom seem to score goals in clusters. I think yesterday was our turn we've dominated games and not scored, yesterday we managed to score with nearly every shot we had. Good luck for the rest of the season.

The “woe me” stuff needs to stop now from the manager and players.
Sorry don’t want to harp back to Nuno but he had a very good way of creating a siege mentality after some dreadful calls.
The penalty call yep it’s a poor decision however so was the one not to send Dawson off.
Last week yep we can genuinely say incompetent referees cost us not yesterday.
Defence yesterday was just awful as was the finishing.
Can see why the front line is regularly changed they’re all consistently inconsistent so reality is you’ve only got how they do in training as market. Traore is the most consistent of them all currently. Even JL only picks up another 5-6 points and we go down it won’t be on him. Burning a summer window and 7 games with Dean Lage and 8 games with a lower league manager is where it’s cost us.
It’s highly frustrating as a draw in both games v Bournemouth and Leeds would have us in a far better position and clipped 2 points from rivals.

He won't be blameless either!

From being initially impressive, he's lost his way a little of late and I hope he takes stock before the Forest game.

It'll be a total clusterfuck if he takes us down (considering the rest of the dysfunctional clubs near the bottom), considering his pedigree and the money he's had to spend. I don't think he will, but we need to put some points on the board again quickly

Well yes.... to a point.
Since Lage went we have signed some serious talent.
I'm not sure that a good few of the last half dozen performances have reflected the (supposed/expected) brilliance of our now high profile squad.
I like Julen a lot and have great faith in him, but he's burning a little bit of his credit at the bank at the moment.
Forest will be a good test of him pulling the threads together.

The person(s) who would be most to blame are those who chose not to sign a centre forward in January or think Cunha is one in the traditional sense
It was plain as the nose on your mush what we needed. Even us amateurs on here knew that. Massive error which has put extra unnecessary pressure on the team

I actually don't think Traore has much of a case. Yes, his shirt was pulled, but he recovered, won the ball back then got tackled before Leeds broke.

Same as a lot of our penalty/offside calls etc.

You can look objectively and find reasons why they're 'soft', but when you see them given constantly in other games (sometimes on the same day!) it's bizarre

There's no doubt that poor reffing/VAR decisions have gone against us last 2 games and they have had a detrimental effect on the results for us.
However there are also decisions gone for us in both games, anyone calling corruption or anti Wolves agenda needs to get a grip, its childish, petulant nonsense. If the players and coaches have that mindset, we're doomed.

Yes we’ve developed a whiny, victim, feeling sorry for ourselves culture rather than just taking the game by the scruff of the neck and controlling the things we can control.

This isn’t a new thing either. It’s just been steadily getting worse and now it’s in the players heads affecting their judgment/temperament/performance.

There is a way to successfully create a siege mentality. Mourinho was a master of it. We are nowhere near and it isn’t helping our cause.

How the hell have we managed to accrue 6 red cards already this season? We are a bit of a whingey team, but I wouldn't have said we were a particularly dirty or cynical team compared to others.
Please don't anyone say its cos everyone hates us!

On MOTD first, and Ashley Williams and Dion Dublin are agreeing with every decision the referee and VAR have made today. They think Lopetegui has gone too far with the complaints and that Dawson should have been sent off. So there’s that.
Yeah was a programme with Leon Osman on who said the ref was right.

They then brought Dermot in who said he would’ve given the free kick at the end.

The thing is, every decision is still subjective isn’t it, and if people with no dog in the fight are disagreeing then maybe it’s not as clear cut as we think?

My dad, also a wolves fan said no penalty as well. Personally I think he’s totally wrong.
