Wolves 2-4 Leeds: Verdict Thread

Kilman is less obviously bad because he hides away.

Kilman's best position today was left midfield. Says it all.

Just got back

How in gods name did we lose the that shower of shit

More so how did we concede 4 goals

No excuses but we are fuckin useless

I’m fuckin fuming

He attacks the ball.

There you go, he's one up on Kilman.
To steal a phrase from someone else “coordination of a new born giraffe”. Can’t pass, never seen a guy beaten in the channel so easy, body shape is all wrong constantly, looks half soaked.

And we want to play him on the left making all these factors worse!? Or move Dawson killing both players?? Honestly play Toti ahead of him. At least he’s pretty good at the nuts and bolts and has pace even if he also has the coordination of a new born giraffe. He was actually surprisingly OK in his appearances so far despite looking ungainly.

Putting the emotional frustration, and obviously the damage it's done etc, it's got to be said - what a game of football that was.

I'll do the decisions first. Penalty - I think it's one, but can understand why he's not given it in real time. However he should 100% be told to go and have a second look, and in doing so he gives it, there's no doubt.

On their fourth. Well I've only seen it twice and as I'm in a minority of two I won't rule out the possibility that I'm wrong*, but I don't think it's a foul. Yes, he has a little tug of his shirt but it doesn't come close to effecting Adama's momentum, it was very much a choice to stop playing. If we're having free kicks for every tiny shirt pull, hand on the shoulder or whatever the game will never get going, there'll be an extra 30 free kicks a game. There was nothing in it.

Onto the performance...well, if you're shit in both boxes, then you're always going to be flirting with danger. We look like conceding almost every time we're attacked. Rodrygo should've scored when he went through one on one, there was Gomes clearing one off the line, and all four of the goals were very, very avoidable.

And as well as not being able to defend, they absolutely shit themselves when they're pressed in possession. I don't get it, because on the face of things all four of them are technically decent footballers, but the rushed, panicked way they pass under pressure is a bit embarrassing tbh. I don't know whether it's midfielders not finding intelligent enough passing lanes or just a total lack of composure, but most of the time it just looks so classless when compared to teams like Brighton, Brentford or Fulham. I think the manager has to ask himself some questions there because it's a very coachable way of playing with decent footballing defenders.

We had more chances than usual today - Adama was excellent - but again I don't think we were missing sitter after sitter. The Kilman cross and the Sarabia one were golden chances, but generally we just don't create the quality of chances. A good bit of football, striker in a yard of space, and clinical finish...fuck knows the last time we scored a goal like that. They always seem scrappy, deflections or bobbles or defensive errors, and so rarely just as a result of good football that's hard to defend against.

I don't know what our chance creating style is supposed to be, how we're trying to play. I know Lop is a good manager, you don't get the jobs he's had and win what he's won without being it. But stylistically I don't know what he's trying to do, and he changes things so often it must be confusing for the players too. I'm not excusing them - I'd happily see 80% of them fuck off, in the Summer - but I do think he just needs to pick an eleven and stick to it to see if they can build up some confidence, consistency and chemistry.

Leeds stopped playing at 1-0, and we asked them very few questions until we'll into the second half, despite having the best of the ball and the territory, and that's not good enough. We just don't know what to do with the football.

Won't bother with ratings. Adama was excellent, Neves was good, and everybody else was somewhere between shit and meh.

*though tbf the chances of such titans of the game as me and Deutsch *both* being wrong on something are pretty slim

As a few have intimated, the situation with refs and officials this season has been frustrating and bizarre, but I feel it's sidetracking the manager and players and causing us to lose our heads.

Fuck it off and concentrate on ourselves. We let the ref and Leeds get right in our heads today, need composure as well as gung ho injustice rampage

Aye. Anger at the refs is for us, not the playing staff.

Obviously much easier said than done. Though, shout outs to Diego Costa being the calm one during the ruckus that got Nunes sent off.

Composure is the word. We have zero at either end of the pitch and any hint of an injustice and we completely fall apart. It's appalling and if anything has got even worse under Lop. Which is alarming. We aren't good enough to have periods of 30+ minutes almost every game where we do this. Teams must know that we can be rattled and when we are we hit the self destruct button. Almost every game.

We simply can’t keep players who aren’t good enough - Podence is terrible, Jonny is past it, Raul cannot play a full 90, Neto is nowhere near fit. Kilman is terrified of standing out. We’ll go down with this lot and rightly so.

I actually think this is why our players, manager and fans are freaking out every time decisions don't go our way - because we know deep down that without that offside decision, red card or penalty going our way, we just don't really have what it takes in most games to score and win games with our own craft. We need that leg up against the opposition

It's not a leg up, it's parity, it's fairness.

I don't think anyone would argue we'd have more than 0 points from the last two games if we get the penalty decisions we should have done.

I said in the relegation thread that I’m worried about the Forest game because we have players who are soft as shit, petulant or both which won’t be good in the “fight”. I wasn’t expecting that to be an issue against Leeds at home but today has made me even more worried before we factor in how todays result has impacted the importance of that game.

It was important already, and although not technically a “must win” it’s certainly a “must not lose”.

Lop has said RAN being left out was tactical.

Starting to get a bit worried about him, both Bruno and Lop have acted in a way that suggests he has attitude problems.
Wouldn't be surprised, comes across like that as he doesn't want to defend.

Well he's playing against Forest, he didn't cover himself in glory on Newcastle's winner, but I've seen Jonny and Semedo do the same this season without being booted out of the squad

Of course it's parity, I don't mean we shouldn't get those calls, but every team gets decisions go against them through the season.

OK, you can say we're getting it worse than most of late, it's just that when we don't get those calls, we can't seem to just put it behind us and power on. I think part of that is lack of confidence in our ability to put teams to the sword without those one or two calls going our way

Wasn’t worried when Lopetegui came in, definitely wasn’t after the first few games and after Liverpool and Southampton i thought we would be comfortably safe. However we’ve only won 1 since and the manager keeps getting glaringly obvious things wrong. Team selections, setup, subs etc… he’s got things right in 2 halves and 20 minutes at Newcastle since. We don’t seem to cope with adversity very well, the decisions against us are becoming a joke now but we’ve got to handle things better, the referees aren’t giving the goals away.

No idea whether we stay up or not but Julen has to find his best team and stick with the plan or actually have a plan to begin with, i think we’ve lost out identity again that we had when he came in.
