Wolves 2-4 Leeds: Verdict Thread

Yeah I don't think initial team selection was overly the issue. More the half time changes disrupted us. Dawson to Collins was a big drop off obviously and Sarabia didn't offer much either (missed a sitter too).

A few weeks ago I would've agreed but they look like they are starting to get their act together from the little I've seen

No more than we looked like we were starting to get our act together a few weeks ago. Plenty of twists and turns yet.

Feels like about the 3rd time I'm saying Jonny is washed and should not be playing anymore. Absolutely rancid performance. Far from the only one but the most obvious.
Well he certainly won't for the next 3 games.

Probably our best goal of the season though, for what it's worth.

Poor officiating must not cloud the fact that we are very poor as a team. We have some highly rated players and a very highly rated Manager so why are we so bad? Teams know how to play us now, high press, go all out attacking and our defence go all rabbits in the headlights. Very, very worrying.

Let's can any 'robbery' narrative. Back in the pub having a much needed Guinness so not seen any incidents back - was it a pen for us, maybe, was it a red for Jonny, almost certainly yes, was it a foul on their 4th, perhaps but Adama gives up like that all the time and it scarcely mattered anyway. The ref was shit. Deal with it.

Terrible goals to give away and we cannot do that as we don't score enough.

1st - far too easy to get in behind us for a simple cut back and finish

2nd - totally free at the back stick while Sa is busy moaning about nothing. As an added bonus, it's that prick Ayling as well

3rd - Jonny with a display of being both weak and indecisive, a lovely combo

And then it's 0-3. Good luck from there. We didn't give up and we threw everything at it, but probability is against us.

So many of those nearly moments going forward where we're a good shot or cross away...but having seen us for the last three seasons, I rarely *expect* us to score off them.

Jonny, Kilman, Podence and Raul all fucking crap.

It's not a fatal blow but we've dug our own hole today and against Bournemouth. Frustrating to say the least.

I also think Lopetegui has a lot to answer for. Too many times he has to make substitutions to firefight the mistakes he has made. Not good enough from him, not good enough from the players.
I don’t really think that applies today? We were the better team first half quite comfortably

I think we need to get get to grips with this notion of woeful finishing. The finishing was just our norm. The players we have don't score goals, its that simple.

Its not like another day we'd have won 4-0. The freak day is when the forward players score.

Even before the injuries Neto was just as wasteful, Espanyol away, Villa at home etc etc.

Lopetegui absolutely got his team wrong. Anyone saying otherwise is talking out their arse.

He learned from not playing Moutinho in a #10 and decided to play João Gomes there, akin to playing Casemiro as a #10 the clown. He also decided to play Neto as a RW from the start when I think he’s done one good thing from that position in his entire career and play the absolute joke that is Daniel Podence.

Then you don’t know if you’re getting testimonial Jonny or 2018 Jonny. Today we got testimonial Jonny. Surely you know which bloke is actually there based on the weeks training. He’s been 95% garbage all season.

Add in Raul playing as an isolated striker yielding nothing. You paid £45m for Cunha and don’t fucking play him. Gomes moves to CM and is outstanding but runs out of gas because he hasn’t played, but you’ve had to take off Neto and Podence becuse you picked the wrong team so left yourself short.

You take off Dawson because “he might get sent off” but Leeds leave Ayling on and the clown that is Junion Firpo even though on yellows and you don’t put Adama on straight away to get at them?

We’re down to 10 men, have a midfielder who can’t move and in the 90+ minute are still trying to play it around badly, actively giving the ball away. At this point you put everyone in the middle of the pitch and play for the seconds. We then did that once and got a chance.

Awful management start to finish today for me.

Being driven back from the game on the first leg of the journey. Can’t drive as I can’t seem to stop slowly shaking my head at what I’ve just seen. Out of all the baffling performances by people on and around the pitch, my award goes to the grown man who, as Nunes was being physically restrained from battering the little fat Lino and carted off to the tunnel hoisted up his sign asking for his shirt. As with everything else I’ve just seen: WTF?!

And yet we keep buying players who have historically poor goal output, or 'second strikers' like Cunha or 'wide forwards' like Sarabia and we'll probably do it again in the summer if we stay up

“Better team first half”. Yes becuase we were already a goal down in 6 mins and they are a train wreck. Still didn’t make the keeper make a save.

Yep, I think Lop is escaping some fair criticism at the moment cos he's a cool guy and we all want him to succeed.

He seems to have made an impact on the club, but his team is tetchy, moany and all over the place at the moment. Not the calming hand I expected in games like today

Semedo picked up his 8th yellow of the season. If he picks up two more in the next four games (up to and including the Leicester game) he'll get a two match ban.

Neves just needs one more in the same period.

I think we’re fucked, a mix of corrupt officials and, the elephant in the room, Leeds 3 chances plus a gift from the Ref, us, numerous chances and apart from an opportunist goal and a deflection never looked like scoring, Neto, first half, any corner and it’s an equaliser.

And while I’m in full on rant mode. Hopefully today puts and end to “play Collins” because he’s fucking dogshit.
Still better than Kilman ffs. He was fucking awful today. Utter coward.

Only one PL away win all season for Leeds before today, btw

They were no good. Played for 1-0 all first half after they scored, any team with genuine goal threat would have made them pay for that. Beneficiaries of some League One defending after half time.

Gift wrapped points.

Yet 1-0 down to a team most here described in the build up as absolute rubbish.
