Wolves 0-0 Chelsea: Verdict Thread

So? As long as it ain't 18-20 I couldn't care less how far we fell down the table.
Bit short sighted, that?

Firstly the money side of things

Secondly winning becomes a habit as does losing, so many teams start the start a season poorly after finishing one in the same manner

Thirdly if we plunge down the table, it clearly doesn’t work….

I’m fairly sure 99.9% of fans won’t want us finishing 17th and would be pretty disheartened, not to mention livid given where we are currently. No style or brand of football would change that

How much of that 20m do I see? Not a penny, they'll put my ticket price up regardless cuz Vinny is a cunt
Well you’d hope it gets invested somewhere in the squad so you’ll see that on the pitch. If by see you mean it being credited to your account, you’ll need to find a different hobby

Snottiest nose ever.

Clear red for the handball, he may as well have just caught it and carried it up the field. This league is bent as fuck.

Jose Sa played another blinder in a shot stopping and area commanding sense, his distribution was Rui levels today though.

Joao or Saiss MOTM.

Donk really should have scored.

It doesn't get invested in the squad though, and in terms of what you get for prize/TV money the order of places in mid table doesn't really mean much.

If the club were that concerned by it they wouldn't have played all the young players at the end of last season and eeked out another few points to finish ahead of the likes of Newcastle

Mad how many people act like we'd be destined to lose every game one nil forever if we hadn't changed style. We were playing incredible, we'd won plenty of games

Well it does, doesn’t it? Money comes from somewhere. If wed finished 17th last year, would’ve been less income and maybe we wouldn’t have paid the 6m loan fee for trincao? We will never know

If Tottenham score once more today we move to tied (with Liverpool) for 3rd best defensive record in the league (behind only City [conceded 9] and Chelsea [conceded 12]).
More concerned with Spurs losing and we move up to 7th.

I’m not sure people are saying that? Losing does become a habit though (ironically like keeping clean sheets does) not saying we would lose every game 1-0 but if we were 5 games in with 0 points on the board panic sets in.

We really weren't incredible.

I don't think we're fundamentally set up to be dull, we just lack options. It's personnel, not style.

It's not the most entertaining and if it was like this forever I'd probably not be happy. Hopefully it's a phase in our evolution towards becoming a really good team.

It'll take maybe 3 transfer windows before the squad really starts to reflect the profile of players Bruno is asking for. It makes sense for him to build from an incredibly solid base and then incrementally improve our style with a better fit of player in an attacking sense, IMO.

Yep, I agree. When we are able to have more possession you can see plenty of the intent and what the coaching staff are trying to achieve.

It’s crucial we keep certain players as part of the evolution as well. No point selling a key player to have to replace them.

We’re in a position where quite a few of our players are interchangeable and not vital (wide forwards for example)

I think we are starting to look like we're getting some of our confidence back

Depends if the people that are seen as key players, largely due to performances under a different manager desiring a different style, can adapt and continue to perform as well for a new manager wanting a different style.

Liverpool were transformed when they sold Coutinho, a risky move at face value as he'd been central to most of their attacking player prior to Klopp arriving but he didn't have the right style for the new man, or even really fit any particular position. Sometimes failing to make those bold decisions can be really detrimental, clinging onto the past and preventing you from fully embracing the new ideas.

Coutinho played all the time under Klopp and was good. He went because it was a stupid bid, not because he didn't fit the system.

I don't think any of our current players fit that description anyway, bar maybe Adama who probably doesn't suit anyone properly.

It’s true but Klopp was backed by his teams board and owners to buy some talent. Bruno has been told the old mother Hubbard story so far which is , as you know , bollocks

First half good and unlucky not to finish it in front. I need to see that Kante incident again cos I thought it was a clear handball. If it wasn't, then he is so lucky that he stopped the ball getting through to Podence. Donk should have done better with the header at the end but he is Donk and so underwhelming a football player at the mo. Second half a non-event, bore-fest. I thought the back 5 were immense, throughout the game, especially Hoever, considering this was his first start in ages. Further up field, Podence again showed glimpses of just how important a player he is for us. Another game under his belt and long may his run in the team continue. A point against Chelsea is not to be frowned upon. UTW!

Kante had his arms out like a scarecrow, mis judged the spin off the surface and it hit his arm. I saw it with my own eyes.

I instantly looked at Coote and his reaction looked like someone who saw it but didn’t want to give it, knowing it would result in a red

It looked similar on TV. If core gives it and sends Kante off it’s not getting overturned .

Or maybe ......,
