Wolves 0-0 Chelsea: Verdict Thread

If Tottenham score once more today we move to tied (with Liverpool) for 3rd best defensive record in the league (behind only City [conceded 9] and Chelsea [conceded 12]).

I know what you're getting at here but Raul now has as many yellow cards as he has goals in 17 appearances.

That's not good enough from a player of his caliber, simple as.
It's too simplistic to say Raul just isn't playing well though, it's a lot to do with how we're playing, very little creation in midfield and not enough players in forward positions when we're on the attack.
I'm not sure what people's alternatives are? I actually saw a poster on another site saying he's had it with Raul and would be happy to sell him! Wtf?

Difficult for the midfield to exert any creativity when Raul can't hold the ball up well enough to allow us to advance up the pitch. That's where our problems begin, IMO.

Such a forgettable game, you could write the match report on the back of a postage stamp.

We're superb at the back but 2 goals in 8 games is woeful. Problem is with the possibility of closed door games again I think we'll hold back on spending (if we were planning to in the first place).

Moutinho MOTM.

It's no good lamping the ball at him when he's surrounded by three defenders and when he has few options to help him and saying he's not holding the ball up well enough....again I ask where is this striker who will do better coming from?

I do wonder if Raul is a bit rusty after being out for so long, I'm hoping he's just lost his mojo and can recover it.

The Southampton goal shows he's still got "it", but maybe it's going to take time for his whole game to come back together.

I'll be honest coming into this run of games I was concerned about how we'd get on, but overall we've done pretty well

-West Ham at home and Brighton away were good wins, circumstances aside
-Solid point today
-Liverpool and City probably would've been a stretch to say we deserved points on the balance of those games but we were very close to getting them
-Norwich and Burnley obviously expectations were higher but at a minimum we didn't lose and drop points

There are obviously serious issues from an attacking POV but defensively we're arguably better than we were under Nuno.

Wouldn't have expected us to be in this position with these kind of results preseason, or even after the first 3 games, but we're looking like we shouldn't have an issue getting to 40 and beyond pretty comfortably - unless and until the squad is majorly refreshed it looks like anything beyond that might have to wait.

Problem is that he isn't even winning it when he is up against a single defender. And he's gotten so erratic with his positioning and the times when he attacks a loose ball that it seems like more often he takes himself out of position to be effective, rather than moving himself into more dangerous positions or ones that give his teammates an outlet.

See the loose ball that he fucked up for Dendoncker (around the 80th minute IIRC) as an example.

Well, from my perspective we aren't going down and we certainly aren't going to trouble the top 6, so if we am gonna bob about in mid table I'd rather enjoy watching us play than being annoyed at the complete anti football we played last 40 minutes..

But if we go ahead and play that brand of football we could quite easily plummet down the table? We’re playing a brand of football that’s getting decent results with this squad.
Once the squad changes the style may well as well.

I dont think anyone is vilifying the bloke here, but you are allowed to say if he underperforms.

I get close to it, I think, because I expect much, much more of our star players.

It's how I got my Average Post Rating.

Just noticed the average post rating. My experience of you is atleast a 6.5. Doing yourself a disservice

So? As long as it ain't 18-20 I couldn't care less how far we fell down the table.

That's nearly 20m pounds you're throwing away though.

How much of that 20m do I see? Not a penny, they'll put my ticket price up regardless cuz Vinny is a cunt

You can't possibly be making the argument that that amount of money means nothing to the club?
