West Ham 3-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

I must be the only one who thought Kilman was decent today. Defended everything well, and wasn't at fault for any of the goals either.
He did keep underhitting passes to Bellegarde.

All on GoN this one.
He deserves to be criticised, he went to a 4 at a strange time, his choice at LB was equally strange and the attacking plan muddled at best. BUT he's not responsible for what Bellegarde, Semedo and Bentley did or didn't do on the first goal, Lemina giving it away for the second or Sarabia needlessly straying offside.

I don't think anything he'd have done today, be it the starting line up, subs, formation or tactics would have prevented a defeat given who he had to play in goal and his performance coupled with the soft second goal.

Not a hope.

If you're a centre forward you'd absolutely love to play against him. Easiest day you'll have all year. He made one good saving tackle after being miles out of position to start with and that's it.

Not as bad as we are all thinking. Nothing in the penalty box.

A few decisions could have gone differently.

1. At 0-0 it's a penalty, cunha is caught going through, I don't care if he is falling over he then rugby tackles Cunha, don't care where the ball is nothing in the rules that if the ball is in the keepers hands it can't be a foul.
2. Zouma has to walk for a blatant elbow to the face, don't even get a Yellow....

That said we were 2nd best, in areas that count. Our box, and their box.

4 at the back don't work
Toti needs taking out the firing line, he has been shit for last 2 games.
We need Neto back

GON gone flat after spunking over his Bournemouth masterclass on Sky. He's either fucking off Fosun with his lack of players shit (That will not end well) or the master tactician can't actually play another way. At least try a few long balls to Sasa, AT LEAST FUCKING TRY !!

Probably not but:

- Weird Bellegarde role
- Doherty as sub in a proper Kenny Jackett 2015 change while two strikers sit on the bench
- Toti staying on past HT
- Hwang playing 90 minutes again while being 2/10 at best again

Are bad decisions and deserve calling out.

It’s absolutely not a penalty if that’s given against us this forum would be in uproar

The Doherty and Doyle subs are purely to take players off to stop them getting yellow cards or rest them when the games gone. Nothing more.

While we're at it, why was JRB allowed to come back on after the second head injury?

3-0 down, minutes left, so just take him off or finish with 10 if we've used up our substitution windows.

Even if the player said he's okay, or he passed a concussion test I just see no value in leaving him on.

This Simpsons episode sprang to mind

Yet there wasn't a single bad word for him in the match thread. Which you claim is always ultra negative.

In fact there were more calls for Cunha to come off, who was ineffective at best today (a symptom of all our front three tbh), and who you gave MOTM.

Still we all see the game slightly differently and makes zero difference to the result so no biggie really.

I'd have had Doyle on at HT actually, at least try to keep the ball a bit (we then proceeded to have a 0% pass success rate in West Ham's final third for 10 minutes).

I object to Matt Doherty getting any Premier League minutes whatsoever as he is fucking SHIT.

Think it’s time for a shake up in personel.

Toti needs taking out of the firing line as he’s been worse than appalling for two games on the spin. If we’re going 4 at the back, play a proper left back.

Bellegarde needs taking out until he’s learned how to track a man.

I feel Joao Gomes is showing signs of inconsistency which doesn’t surprise me given it’s his first experience of the physical, relentless nature of the PL.

I’m not one for advocating wholesale changes but the performance levels have been dipping for a while and eventually you need to trust the eye test. If it doesn’t look good, it’s not good.

RAN, Doyle, Sasa - even Traore & Santi should be knocking loudly on GON’s door for a start so some of the other lads can have a breather.

There's definitely a shout there, I thought that at the time. Not enough in it though ultimately as Cunha had already lost the ball.

It's my verdict, not one filtered through opinions I didn't read. It's also one based on watching Max Kilman for five years.

If ,and it really is a Big IF, there really is three teams that are worse than that we are going to be really lucky this season. This has been building for seasons since the first season in premier the signings have got steadily worse each each transfer window. In reality there is no one in our squad who is going to walk into a higher placed team. I know People rate Neto but he's always broken so no one will be in a rush to sign him. Finally I do not think four at the back will ever work with our squad.

Still think it would have been a different with 5 at the back and with RAN on from the start.

Two average sides and but thanks to us handing out Christmas gifts we are on the end of a poor defeat. Don’t think that we were awful going forward but we don’t score the type of chances for goals one and three that they did. Without Neto we are lacking a sprinkle of star quality and in games like today we definitely need him.
