Welcome to Wolves Marshall Munetsi

I do think some are going a bit OTT. Not having a go at you specifically Syco, but if you put Traore up front he'd look as bad.

I'm not hopeful because of the obvious technical deficiencies, but he is still being asked to do a job in an unnatural position.

Yeah I said all that last night about him being out of position and early days but just looking at his basic skills I'm not convinced he'll be that much more effective in midfield. Really hope Im wrong, happy to eat humble pie

It doesn’t matter if he’s out of position, or it’s early days.

If you can’t kick, trap, pass, head a football, you don’t really belong in a Premier League football team.

Do you mean he'd score 2 goals away at Man City?

😏

The fee is the one, as end of the window as you can get for a club who pleads they don't have a pot to piss in and bleeds it's fans dry. He's not as 'bad' as some paint, but consider the cost and it's a significant overpayment.

I also don't understand how you can look to sign the CMs we did in January and pivot to him. Admittedly I'd not seen any of them play, but all the others had very different profiles. Surely one good game from Bellegarde didn't make us change that? He's also still yet to play there, if indeed he ever will.

That said, there is a place for someone like him in the squad for games like Everton. We've been bullied in both boxes at set pieces this season and he helps in that regard, although you don't pay that sort of fee for a bit of height - Boubacar could probably give you that anyway.

As Banjo said on the other thread if you are playing Dave Edwards you have to have the goals and yesterday he delivered one so fair play for that. At PL level he reminds me of JWP, not stylistically obviously, with him it's delivery from set pieces if you aren't getting that then he's a passenger. With Munetsi he has to be finishing those breaks into the box, because there's precious else there. If he were to score another 3 or 4 and we stay up then think of it as the same as Cunha's release clause, an insurance policy you took out that's going to cost you £10m and move on.

Agree with all this.

From the moment I saw him on a football pitch it was painfully obvious that he’s nowhere near this level.

He has absolutely none of the attributes of a PL footballer other than, possibly, strength. Well, you get that in abundance at League 2 level.

Probably most concerning was who watched him and thought he was up to standard? And that he warranted that sort of transfer fee. And it’s not just “settling in”, he’s rubbish.

As said, cut our losses, send him back to France, and thanks for the decent goal yesterday.

A whole group of highly paid football personnel have 1) watched him play and 2) decided that we need to spend EIGHTEEN MILLION POUNDS on a 28 year old who makes Dave Edwards look good. I’d be asking questions at £8m.

Isn't it £18m Euros? Or are we just adding another couple of million pounds on cos we don't like him?

In the plus column he seems like a genuinely good guy. And not by the GON definition (‘I once supported this appointment despite the complete lack of evidence to do so, and now that’s an apparent nonsense I’ll say he’s a a nice bloke even though there’s as little evidence to support that’).

The goal yesterday still looks less like a normal finish and more that he’s presented himself at a convenient point in time to bounce it in off him, like a mobile snooker cushion.

Give him his dues, he certainly gets into good positions. Must have had approaching 10 really good chances in a handful of games. He obviously needs to convert but he’s serving a purpose.

He's basically what Lage turned Dendoncker into but without the talent.

I think it was YoungWolf who pointed out that he'll help us out in both boxes and I agree with that and understand why Vítor is picking him at this moment. It doesn't matter if you play him in a pivot or the forward line, he'll impact the game in both attack and defence. Unfortunately he's completely incapable of contributing anything to the build up.

Just not the type of footballer I enjoy watching at all and for me the negatives far outweigh the positives he brings.

Think he's probably an asset for where we are (were at Christmas anyway), would hope we'd improve on him in the future (I haven't given up on Traore yet).
I still think we paid double what we should.

£18m is a lot for what he looks like.

He's not really a starter though tbh which is why his fee is too big. Question is can he score 5-10 goals per season?

If he scores 10 goals in a Premier league season he'll be a bargain, I doubt he will, 5 maybe.
